Report – Capcom to skip attending gamescom

capcomlogoa

According to a report from German website Gamestar, Capcom’s the latest publisher to skip gamescom.

The site claims a message from the publisher’s German community manager mentions the no-show, citing it has no major games slated for this winter to show off, despite the PC version of Lost Planet 2 due in the fall, and Dead Rising 2 coming in October.

We’ll email Capcom UK for comment.

The news comes just a few weeks after Sega confirmed to VG247 it also would not be attending the Cologne-based event, citing the reason to not attend as a “commercial decision”.

Thanks, TheDutchSlayer.

I don’t get it. Gamescom is the largest game convention with so much Attendance.
First Sega, then Capcom…

From Sega, perhaps, but Capcom? Boooooooooooooooo, to the pair of them. Then again, they’ve either a belated port, or Dead Rising’s sequel, so perhaps they’re right and, they might as well not bother.

I know why they are not coming this year. Of course…

Last year at Gamescom they had:

Dark Void (360, PC, PS3)
Lost Planet 2 (360, PC, PS3)
Monster Hunter 3 (Wii)
Spyborgs (Wii)

2 shitty games, one MMO and SpyWhat? No one cares.

This year they have very good game like Dead Rising 2 and amazing Marvel Versus Capcom 3.

Your PR SUCKS ASS!

Unless you have something big to announce or showcase, then going to E3 or Gamescom isn’t worth it. And these two companies clearly don’t have anything to harp on about.

I seem to remember the original Dead Rising is/was banned in Germany, so if the sequel follows suit it stands to reason they wouldn’t be allowed to show it off at a convention open to the public.
