StarCraft II client now available for digital download

starcraftII

Those purchasing StarCraft II digitally can download an encrypted version of the game starting today, in preparation for it going live on July 27.

StarCraft:IncGamers reports the Battle.net web interface now includes a download link for the game client and can be slapped on your system right this minute.

The encrypted piece of code can’t be installed before release, and online verification will likely be required.

To get the client, head over to the Beta version of Battle.net’s web interface, log in with your Battle.net account, and click “services” to purchase the game digitally.

If you are planning to buy the game in boxed form, the download won’t do you any good, obviously.

I literally ordered the boxed version from a retailer about 2 hours ago.

*click* Cancelled.

Just started the download, makes sense on my new M11xR2 as it doesn’t have a built in DVD drive so digital is the way to go. I wouldn’t want to have to attach a drive everytime I want to play the game.

Does anyone know how much digital download is going to cost? I cant find the pricing anywhere. If it costs about the same I might as well purchase the hard-copy.
