It’ll be interesting to see what they can do with DK to stop me from loathing him with a vengeance. The original arcade games were great, but the SNES games (and all the others that followed) were fucking hateful.

The SNES games were pretty much all about the graphics. Everyone WOWed about those at the time without seeming to realise that the games themselves were really quite rubbish. The handheld versions – same.

Add this to the fact that RARE’s revamp of the characters was just awful and you’ve got more than enough for me to moan about.

I’d actually forgotten about DK64, so I’ll let that one off. Mainly because I don’t recall ever seeing it in action, never mind playing it.

It still featured the same RAREified characters though, so most likely it was a turd.

Actually, maybe it isn’t DK at all – maybe it’s RARE? I’ve just looked up pictures of DK64 on the ‘net and they remind me of Banjo Kazooie, another game that makes me want to kill people.
