Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze announced for May release on Switch

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is heading to Switch in May.

Nintendo announced Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze during its Nintendo Direct presentation today.

Starring Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong and Cranky Kong, the game contains all content from the original game plus a new beginner-friendly mode.

The mode introduces players to the mechanics as Funky Kong, who can double jump, hover, perform infinite rolls and infinite underwater corkscrews. His surfboard even survives spikes.

The Retro Studios-developed Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a side-scrolling platformer that released on Wii U in February 2014. It's the fifth installment in the Donkey Kong Country series, and a direct sequel Donkey Kong Country Returns which was released in 2010 on Wii.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze releases on Nintendo Switch May 4.
