Rumour – BioWare looking to implement online multiplayer into Mass Effect

Online battles with the Geth or the Collectors may soon be on the cards for Mass Effect 3: a recent BioWare job listing may suggest as such.

According to a listing left by EA senior recruiter Jeff Goldstein on LinkedIn, which has since been removed, the developer’s flagship studio in Montreal is looking for a “Multiplayer Programmer (Mass Effect)”.

It backs up claims from BioWare boss Ray Muzyka last year that it would be looking into adding multiplayer in some form to both Mass Effect and Dragon Age with co-op.

“Sure, we would consider it,” he said back in November. “We haven’t announced anything on that front yet, but those are interesting ideas. They could make a great gameplay experience. Whether we’ll do them or not remains to be decided.”

It’s unfair to dismiss Mass Effect 2 as an RPG. Just because Bioware wanted to streamline a few elements to make the game more accessible for the uninitiated doesn’t mean we should lambaste them for it.

I know many a person who felt the original Mass Effects RPG elements were to overblown and dull (menus upon menus etc) yet they really enjoyed ME2.

i enjoyed me1 but found it a tad overrated (played too much of a kotor clone for my liking) but I LOVED me2. Seriously its probably in my top 10 fav games now :D

Same here, I think ME2 is easily the best game this generation. I really hope Bioware aren’t planning to water down ME3 by spending time making MP modes and maps.

They’ve wasted a KOTOR sequel on an MMORPG, I don’t want to see the Mass Effect series taken down the same route.

they should just make mass effect like guild wars have an online world and off line game. Each chapter adds to the story, game map, game world and online play.

They already stated that Sheperds story will always be a Single Player game not a MMO. This “Rumor” is probably just that a rumor or an arena type game.
