Curious to know how well Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker did in its first week? Spoiler: under half a mill.

To be exact, the AAA title sold 425,000 units at launch last week, with Dragon Quest spin-off, Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2, outselling it: it sold 624,000 units on DS.

See, no matter what, it now proves Japan goes crazy for Dragon Quest any day of the week, including when a new MGS is out.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker releases in June in the west for PSP. Hit this up as to why you should be buying it.

wow. any way you slice it, that is some hella fantastic sales for that game. I would have expected DQMJ2 to outsell it. It is Dragon Quest after all. :)

434k copies on 14 million psp are >>>> of 624k copies on 30 million ds!

@2plus2equals5: I don’t think you can compare those two games that way though. First of all, those two games are targeted at different markets.

Also, I suppose the sales number for MGS is taken from worldwide figures, while the number for DQMJ2 is taken only from the sales in Japan, since it is only released there.

Both of those games are Japan only for the time being. If you read the title, you’ll know “MGS: Peace Walker sells under 500k in first week in Japan”. And if you read the rest of the article you’d know “Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker releases in June in the west for PSP.”
