Red Steel 3 revealed, uses Vitality Sensor

Wednesday, 28th April 2010 18:41 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Over on the French site LiveWii, a scan of the cover of the French Nintendo Magazine shows Red Steel 3, plus the fact that it will use the vitality sensor.

Here’s the translation, courtesy of NeverKnowTech:

Despite a slow start of the second game, the Red Steel series is going to be a trilogy. It is still unclear if we can fully rely on the information, but it’s credibility comes from the newest issue of French Nintendo magazine.

Filed under “Hot News” this confirmation comes with an important detail: the game is compatible with the Wii Vitality Sensor as told in an interview Jason Vandenberghe, Art Director of Red Steel 2 at Ubisoft Montreal.

What the devs plan to do with the Vitality Sensor is anyone’s guess,  but it could be very cool.

Maybe more will be revealed at E3, but we’ll ask Ubi what’s going on anyway.

Red Steel 2 was released on March 23 in the US.

Thanks, mington, Dutch.

Vitality Sensor? I really forgot about that. When i read forums or have a discussion about motion controls it’s all about Playstation Move and Project Natal and nothing about Wii Vitality Sensor. HALT!

I want to ask a question. Dear VG247 community, you are excited about Wii Vitality Sensor? :D

+ Red Steel 2 was sold for like only 140000 copies. Thats not making any sense at all.

a game sells bugger all but gets a sequel?

Why hasn’t this happened to VARIOUS other games that didn’t sell then! >:(

PS considering this is ubi we should have gotten bg&e2 by now then

This is more suprising as didn’t they say they would only do a third game if the second one was a success?

Unless Nintendo are pumping shed loads of cash into the development of this it can’t be happening after the sales of RS2, unless Ubisoft have gone completely insane.

Thats what they said. Obviously they didnt wait to find out though.

On a sidenote calling Red Steel a ‘trilogy’ is laughable seeing as the first game isnt even set in the same universe as the second.

Why should it exist again? Sales wise it bombed. Quality wise it had a great control scheme but what the fuck is the point of good sword controls when you can’t cut people in half!? First person swords and no blood = bullshit.

Out-of-nowhere Red Steel 3 mention after lackluster sales of Red Steel 2? Vitality Sensor support? Seems a bit fishy to me.

I don’t want to give myself too much credit or anything, but could this French magazine have misinterpreted the joke at the end of my interview with Jason Vandenberghe as fact? After all, they mention an interview with Vandenberghe, but they never say who conducted it.

Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but have a look-see at the interview for yourself and speculate away:

Heh, would be funny if thats what did happen.

Seeing as the mag is apparently stating that Ubi has ‘confirmed’ it, maybe you should drop the publisher a mail to see if its true.

They really should put this sucker on the PS3 when move is released.

@9 only with PS3 graphics or as a PSN title. I won’t buy it if it is a retail product.

@10 Yeah I meant a full on HD Red Steel with move. Im sure it would do better than on the Wii. But yeah, just ports on PSN would be ok as well.
