First movie of Mac Steam appears on YouTube

Macs are getting Steam. This is what it looks like.
As you can see, this pretty much looks like Steam running on a Mac, what with its windows and menus and such.
Surprisingly, there’s a store and access to community features. This sort of sums Steam up. Obviously, as any Mac user will tell you, this version is just “better”. Because it’s on a Mac.
No list of games, unfortunately. The “better” tag is unlikely to apply there.

Macs are for dental assistants, used for noting down appointments.

@3 me too, i really want MAC, probably will eat today. Last time i eat Mac it was last month.
MAcs are absolutely great for working or designers and for gaming it’s not great. But still, it’s good that players can enjoy some Valve games.

It’s not just Valve’s games that are coming to Mac steam…
Also, Macs run all Blizzard games. I’m confident it’ll be the best platform for Diablo 3.

@6 Captain Obvious. You think i didn’t know about Blizzard games? It’s just first of all people will browse Valve games.
Best platform for Diablo 3? I don’t think so. I mean why Mac can be the best platform for Diablo 3? I don’t see mac as the greatest gaming platform. I am a hardcore gamer and don’t have MAC because i don’t work on it (I still think it’s a great device) and i use my PC for gaming because i can upgrade it anytime i want. It’s more powerfull, i have more support of some decent games. I like peripherals there. + for the PC price i will get more games and support + 3D Nvidia vision support

Macs are easier to develop for (when doing so natively, rather than porting) because they’re a standardised platform, a bit like consoles. The fewer hardware variations/variables you have to account for, the easier it is to optimise and stabilise.
Macs only get shorty shrift when converting Direct X libraries to OpenGL libraries. Blizzard won’t have this problem because, as I said, their Mac development is all native.
This is why there’s every chance that Diablo 3 will be best played on a Mac.

Or it will be identical under both systems.

Yeah, most likely. Especially what with Windows 7 actually being a surprisingly decent OS. (God, the TV ads make me want to *heave*, though. Windows 7 was your idea? WHY THE FUCK DIDN’T YOU IMPLEMENT WinFS THEN??)
