Uncharted 2 didn't "redefine" action games, says Castlevania producer

Dave Cox, producer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, has told PSM3 that Uncharted 2 did not "redefine" the action genre because it was only a single-format release.

Admitting that it was "highly polished", Cox believes that if the game were to have hit more than just PS3, it would've possibly set a precedent for action games to follow.

"Visually Uncharted 2 is beautiful and it impresses me technically. But does Uncharted 2 redefine 3rd person action games? I don't think that it does," said Cox.

"Uncharted 2 is a great game and I enjoyed it immensely. The standouts are the story and the voice acting.
"[But] Uncharted was a single format release. If any game is going to set a benchmark for a genre it would need to do so across multiple platforms."

Castlevania: Lords of Shadows is a joint venture with Kojima Productions and Mecury Steam, and is set for release sometime this year on Xbox 360 and PS3.
