Limbo coming to Xbox Live Arcade this summer

Limbo

Three years after its development was initially announced, Independent Game Festival finalist Limbo will be coming to Xbox Live Arcade this summer.

The title, a black and white 3D platformer, is up for two IGF awards this year, including Art and Technical Excellence.

It sees you as a young boy, who goes to the edge of Hell in a quest to find his lost sister.

“The reason for the ‘radio silence’ is that we have been very busy producing the game,” said Dino Patti, head of development at developer for the game, Playdead.

“I’ll just let you know that the reason things have taken so long is that we started from scratch and decided to make Limbo independently after talks with several publishers.”

No exact date has been given.

Thanks, IGN and GSW.

I’ve been looking forward to this one for quite some time. Glad to see it getting released at long last!

Nice art direction. Strange that the most progression is made with these little gems found on xbl and psn. If it continues to evolve, I won’t be playing all those blockbusters but games like Flower, Braid and Trails..

This is why i love xbla, there really are some great games which if it wasn’t for digital downloads would never see release. Definately looking forward to this one!
