Bayonetta PS3 install patch now live in Europe

bayonetta4

Sega’s released the install patch for Bayonetta that was reported yesterday.

The update, which comes in at 136Mb, lets you set aside 4.5Gb of HDD space to reduce loading times for the game, which has been one of the biggest sore spots for the PS3 port.

Get to it, kids.

Thanks, PS3 Attitude.

I’ll be downloading this tonight. Not enough time to share my thoughts about it now

Don’t worry Eragol, we’ll all still be here later, eagerly awaiting your response.

I’ve heard someone on the official Playstation forums say that its pretty much made loading times “non existent” for items, pause and the like. GFX remain the same though.

Some good news on this. A comparison has been done, and there are definite graphical improvements post patch/install:

Shadows and colours look richer and there’s a definite sharper look to it all. I’d put money on Quincunx AA being dropped in favour of 2xMSAA (same as happened with Ghostbusters), with Sony altering the colour levels a touch – which is all stuff that can be done without getting to far into the nuts and bolts of the engine.

Some folks on the Platinum forum are also reporting less screen tearing, although that could just be a placebo effect, but still, it looks like Sony have done a little more tinkering than just adding an install option, which is a most welcome surprise.
