Ready at Dawn: God of War: Chains of Olympus was almost a side-scroller

Three dimensions can barely contain Kratos’ brand of raw fury, so cramming him into two dimensions probably would’ve been a bit like trapping a charging bull in a cage made out of China shops. Even so, Ready at Dawn momentarily considered flirting with that particular disaster while developing God of War: Chains of Olympus.
“There were early discussions of making Chains of Olympus a side-scroller rather than 3D in case the experience couldn’t be fully realized on a handheld,” lead level designer Dana Jan told IndustryGamers.
“This really fueled us to prove that [3D handheld God of War] could be done,” he added.
Interesting, no? Tons more behind-the-scenes details on Kratos’ leap to the PSP through the link.

I bought Chains of Olympus for my PSPgo when I got that, but I haven’t downloaded it yet.
Crappy internet.
