New God of War III screens are just amazing

Andriasang’s got a new set of hi-res God of War III shots, and they’re not going to do anything for your nerves if March is already too far away.

The screens show Kratos taking on a helmeted boss, facing off against a giant centaur and gearing up for a fight against a large metal man with a hammer. There’s some pretty serious “graphics” going on there.

The PS3 mega-game’s been confirmed for a March 25 release in Japan. Americans look likely to get it on March 16, although this is unconfirmed.

There’s been no hint at a solid date for the UK and Europe as yet, although SCEE has assured us an announcement’s coming in “weeks”.

For the rich among you, you’ll be wanting to look at the Collector’s Edition: a snip at £110. Although looking at the screens, it may just be worth the investment.

    By the gods!

Most of them are hi-res versions of the one we saw in that Chinese mag recently. Shame its not all of them though, wouldnt mind seeing that Poseidon fight better.

BTW: That helmeted enemy is a Satyr, they’re common enemies, not a boss.

Isn’t the Giant on this pic one of the gods? I remember that exact character on GoW 2 with chains and spikes coming out of him using the chains to bring down the titans.

It does look like an awesome game. I’d say it uses at least 95% of the PS3′s power ;-). I’m a little late to the game with GoW games. Not owned a sony console until last year so have missed out on the first two games. I’d like to get them as a set but the temptation would be to just play the 3rd one first. I’d probably miss out on all the story fill-ins and self referencing.

I’m hoping they up the frame rate from the demo to 60fps, either that or peg it to a smooth 30fps. The first is not entirely unfeasible given the demo was last years E3 build.

I’m the same – never played them properly before – but picked up the GoW collection cheap whilst on hols and I’m really enjoying it. I’ll complete the first two before moving on to III. It’s not like there is a dearth of good games coming out this time of year is it?

The GoW collection is fantastically done – testament to the original titles quality really, but it looks good and the jump to 60fps is a notable improvement. I’d like to see more PS2 classics updated like this.

    Yeah, but Jaffe’s
‘It’s like a fucking moving painting!’ Is far off the mark.

    It does look good.
Just hope it plays the same, if not better than the last two.
Without all the really frustrating bits both had.

The point he was making wasnt literal but with the way the internet is, hardly anything surprises people anymore.. specially those that take the time out to comment on blog sites such as this, so the fact that these pics of god of war 3 are pretty damn close to a “fuckin moving painting” is pretty amazing.
