Report – Kameo 2 was in development at Rare, now canned

According to a report from CVG, Kameo 2 was in development at Rare, but was subsequently canned because of the company’s restructure and switch to development of Project Natal.
Bad sales of the original game, which was a launch title for the 360 back in 2005, is known to be a factor of why the sequel was canned, apparently.
The report also suggests there was another known series getting a new edition at Rare alongside Kameo 2, but that was also canned.
Could that have been Perfect Dark Zero 2? Or even Killer Instinct?
We’ll leave an email with Rare anyways to see what they say.

Development of Project Natal development eh?
I completed Kameo. For a launch title it was technically very impressive. Controls were pretty bad though. A sequel would have been interesting but should have been out over a year ago to have an impact.

>:( Rare really do get on my nerves, these days.
I have few words to describe how I feel about this. Rare should just rebrand, change the name and be done with it. It’s over.
Send in The Molyneux, stat, to sort out this mess, MGS.

I liked Kameo! There were some nice ideas in that game and it was pretty decent for a launch title. Never forget running into the Badlands for the first time against all those orcs!
God forbid an Xbox 360 game should have some colour in it.

I don’t know what’s gone wrong at Rare since the N64 days. It seems they struggle to get anything released and often what is released is mediocre. I remember when they were owned by Nintendo that things would get delayed endlessly (wasn’t Conker’s BFD announced near launch and then delayed until the console’s final years?), but that usually resulted in good games. Now it seems what they do manage to release isn’t anything particularly special (although I sort of enjoyed Viva Pinata).

Meh who cares about Rare anyway. They are past it in terms of revelence to gamers.
