Wii hardware crests 56 million worldwide
Wii sold 5.75 million units in the six months ending September 30, Nintendo said today, taking the machine’s life-to-date total to 56.14 million.
Over 76 million software units were sold in the same period. Life-to-date Wii software now stands at 429.23 million units.
Nintendo announced six monthly financials this morning, showing heavy drops in both revenue and profit.

@ Tonka,
To be honest, I am not getting fooled by that attach ratio which is what nintendo is trying to do.
Wii sports is bundled with the console and that’s included in the figure. Wii Play is also bundled with a controller which, let’s be fair, people only buy for the controller and that’s also included in the total software sales figure. I would take those two out to get a real figure of the attach ratio.
I wish they would release a 3rd party Attach ratio but of course they wont.

Bundled Wii Sports is not included in that attach rate figure. It’s never been included on Nintendo’s financial reports and I’d expect that this remains the case.

Actually, the figures to date this year (76m from Apr09-Sep09) and LTD (429m from Nov06-Sep09) DO include bundled software.
It’s the FY forecasts for software in these reports (which this year is 180m from Apr09-Mar10) that do NOT include bundled software.
5m Wii consoles were sold in this period in NA and EU, where Wii Sports is bundled, giving actual software sellthrough of 71m. Meaning they forecast an additional 109m units of SW between Oct09-Mar10 without bundled software. If my understanding is correct.

Apologies for the misunderstanding
