Brink to have dedicated servers

Tuesday, 27th October 2009 15:07 GMT By Patrick Garratt

Splash Damage boss Paul ‘Locki’ Wedgwood just confirmed in a Brink EG Expo session that the game will have dedicated servers for multiplay. He made a proper point of it, in fact.

He said the aim is to have free, dedicated servers for the title available on day one. As you’d hope.

We’ll go back through the recording and dig out the quotes in a bit.

We weren’t allowed to film in the session – which featured a long gameplay demo – or take any photos, unfortunately. It looked pretty damn swish.

It’s out for PC, PS3 and 360 next spring.

IW’s poor decision making has made shouting to the rafters about your game’s dedicated server support the new “it” thing.

Good, might make IW change their minds.

@ G1GAHURTZ : It looks very good. I don’t know about the EG presentation, but the Gamescom presentation was very promising.

Apparently, they will still have dedicated servers, but they will control all of them and use matchmaking to send you to them.

But Operation Flashpoint and F.E.A.R.2 shipped without dedicated servers, and their multiplayer is bad.

Paul Wedgwood is awesome (“I’m a CEO but I do my own lighting”), the game looks awesome when he plays it, I hope it’ll live up to the hype.

By the way, the VG247 team is awesome as well. (Just saying that so that they’re not jealous)
