I wonder if the “leak” was a member of the media or some poor schmuck at the duplication centre. Either way watch the Ban Hammer crack the skulls of those dumb enough to play it before the official launch.

  19. pracer

I can’t think of too many games that I wanted so bad I would be desperate enough to try and play it before it was released. And even most of those games, after the hype wore off, settled into just being another game. Forza 3 isn’t gonna be much different then Forza 2. Kinda like being foaming at the mouth for the new version of FIFA or Madden. You pretty much know what your getting, what the heck can get someone so motivated to have to have it so bad?

  20. theevilaires

wait a sec 13gb??? I thought blu ray wasn’t needed?

    #20 5 years ago
  21. DrDamn

Comes on 2 discs. You can install the second to the HD and it never asks for it again apparently – only a couple of gigs on that one.

Halo:ODST also came on two discs. With the Halo3 multiplayer on a disc by itself.

    @Reask
I doubt it. Otherwise you could sell it on. The Forza 3 extra disc I presume is useless without the main disc.

  27. reask

Yeah Dr Damn but I was thinking of the same as the forza set up if you get my drift.
like the ODST main disc would need to be in?
But once only load for multi.

The Halo odst campain and firestorm are on disc one and all of the online multiplayer stuff is on disc two – that disc works inlue of the Halo 3 game disc for online.

I know I have to get it.

    #38 5 years ago
  39. theevilaires

Reask you are welcome (achievement whore) :P

G1GA I would never do that for many reasons
    1. I love my art covers, booklets, and case collection.
    2. Its the Gaming industry, an industry I love and respect more than any other medium on the market regardless of the 3 console makers.
    3. Cause you’re one hell of a guy :)
    4. Forza 3 is worth every penny of the $60 price
    5. Cause I’m not that Evil :P

I only wanted to see other peoples feelings toward a situation like that. M$ has fucked over the consumer so much with overpriced crap, unbelievable failure rates, and that snake of a move charging people to play games online that most people feel M$ owes them something back.

Whenever I turn my 360 on the first thing I do is scroll to your avatar and check your status. While I’m doing that I can’t help but to notice you’ve paid $50 every year for the past 2+ years just to play COD4 mostly.

Now I know $50 isn’t much to me or you, but think about all those people who really don’t have it. It then becomes should I pirate the game and pay for live, or pay for the game and only get to use half of my investment. Now don’t go shouting BLAH,BLAH,BLAH because the next time you go out to eat pay for a whole meal but only eat half and throw the other half away even though you are still hungry.

Do you see my point. M$ is giving reason to pirate games on their console. Not directly but indirectly because people don’t want to feel cheated. If they do then they will steal. Hello “music industry” anyone.

Even though pirating games is wrong (that’s right wrong not illegal) what M$ is doing is wrong too. So this just leaves us with one ultimate question. PS3 or 360? And no slayernl not every game gets pirated at least not when it comes down to the certain platform. I doubt anyone will be pirating Uncharted2,GodofWar3,GT5,and Heavy Rain.

Karma is coming back to kick M$ ass. GOD knows they deserve it.

Quote that Daily fucking Star. (bastards) :D

Well well well the celebrity is talking to me now. To what do I owe this honor. I haven’t sync my trophies in a while because I’m in a heated competition thank you. Its a stealth tactic I’m using. So just be prepared to see the hardest trophies for any game on my list soon. Oh and Mr. celebrity check out that Wipeout HD Platinum. Oh….ok thought so..go sign some more autographs.

    #42 5 years ago
  43. Psychotext

I just think it’s funny… I mean you spend a lot of time ragging on all the “bad” games you don’t like, but you’ve got a platinum trophy on one game with a sub 50% average, and another with a game that’s sub 70%.

Not sure how much attention should be paid (with regard to the quality of a game) to someone that can stomach 100%ing games like that. :D

  46. G1GAHURTZ

Yeah, I see the point that you are making… and I can totally understand all the PC gamers who are used to gaming online for free when they talk about XBL as a rip off.

Thing is though, I see it more as a service on top of online gaming. When I think about it, I really enjoy all of the features that XBL offers. I’ll give you an example…

Most nights, I turn on my 360 and, like you, the first thing that I do is go to my friends list to see who’s online. It’s usually the same bunch of people, and they’re usually playing CoD4, or some other FPS. Sometimes they’re all in a party, so I just join the party and one or two of them will switch from in-game chat to party chat, say hi and tell me that they’ll invite me in the next game.

Sometimes people aren’t in a party, or they’re playing different games. In which case, at some point, invites will go around and we’re all playing CoD4 or in a party sooner or later. Sometimes we can’t be bothered to play CoD4, so we might play BF:MC/1942 or Worms 2 or L4D or whatever, but switching between them, chatting, people dropping in and out of the party to say hi, etc all works so seamlessly.

I can check friends lists of friends and what games they’ve played, and when they played them and their gamerscore, and where they’re from, and read a bit about them etc, etc.

I can DL demos, videos and HD films all from the same, unified Marketplace.

When I think about all of that, I don’t mind paying for it, because it’s a service that I’m certain that I can’t get anywhere else on any other platform. If it was free, all the better, but no other free system for online gaming offers me anywhere near as much in terms of quantity or quality.

If these features and this service that brings me so much fun almost every night after a hard days work was taken away and replaced with an inferior online service, even though it was free, I think I’d be pretty upset.

The thing that I would say that MS is being unfair with though, is preventing people from even playing online games without paying.

Sure, the service, the features, the earlier demos, etc those are all extras that cost money to impliment and not everyone might see any appeal in them. But instead of offering these things as an extra on top of a simple online system, MS have prevented anyone from gaming online without paying, which is, again, a bit unfair.

However, I don’t think that even that unfairness could be a reason to pirate their games. At the end of the day, MS or even Sony and Nintendo could charge $1000 a game if they wanted to, because it’s their product and their business and it’s us who go to them to be entertained by their products. No-one forces us. So if I actually paid $160 instead of $60 to play CoD over the last 2 years, then it’s because I think that I’m getting a reasonable amount of value.

(btw, it’s more than 2 years. It’s just that one year my Gold membership ran out in the middle of the month, so I had to wait until payday to renew it…)

Is reporting on games being torrented conductive for an industry already damaged by piracy, or even good business..?

    #47 5 years ago
  48. MushroomStamp

reporting on it doesn’t effect a thing. People have been ripping games since Atari 2600 and every single console/PC since then that I am aware of. Ignoring the fact and not reporting on it just seems rather “Ostrich like”.

Ummm Mr. Brad Psychotext Pitt what games did I call shit and I have them on my trophy list. Terminator Salvation is shitty but 12 golds are 12 golds especially if they are easy. No two ways around that.

G1GA, I can download demos, videos, and HD vids all from the same unified PS store but here’s what seperates us. I can “BUY” SD and HD movies. If I want to spend $5.79 that’s what Sony will charge and take. Not like M$ who forces you to spend $10 in stupid M$ points when the item you want cost $6. Then they have the nerve to say we’ll keep your $4 change when you want some more stuff later.

Now I realized you live in Europe and you guys haven’t gotten the vid store yet. Trust me when you get it, you’ll never use that clutter fest NXE market place again.

Back to the $50 rip off. I wanted to send you a wallpaper (1080p) of MW2 the other day and couldn’t because I don’t have a Gold sub….WTF its only a pic, but I can still vid chat with a silver sub. Yea….that’s just wrong man. They are using tease tactics to pressure people into buying a gold sub which is a fucking low down dirty tactic.

  51. Psychotext

I don’t think you understand, but I’m not sure you want to understand so I don’t think I’ll try to explain it in a more simple way.

I always have and always will continue to like Live and don’t even mind paying for it. One feature alone makes it worth it. The partying voice chat. On PC, you pay for ventrillo or Teamspeak, or you have to use Steam Voice or even MSN voice… ALL of which lack the seamless integration and great sound quality. Nothing on the PC comes close sounding good except Vent or TS but you have to pay the server cost. The PS3 voice chat is just Complete CRAP.. besides not sounding all that great (yes I have a PS3 also), it doesn’t allow for the party system.. I like talking to friends online that aren’t playing the same game. People can just jump in/out of “channel” people are all talking on…. Voice hands down makes for a 100% better online experience for simple fact it allows you coordinating gameplay in real time. If on a PC i have to Text chat with someone in game it , just SUCKS… I want SEAMLESS voice, which Live makes Easy/Fast/Better to use.

    #53 5 years ago
  54. Gekidami

I’ve never had to pay for Ventrillo or Teamspeak…? Though i havnt used either of them in ages.

As for you PT I figured you make a smart comment like that. Guess all that fame is going to your already big ego.

Mike welcome back. I was afraid you were gonna miss my 1 year anniversary buddy. Now the XBOT’s on this site are complete.

PS3 voice chat sucks to the exstent that its the games doing all the work and not the firmware like on 360, its obviously more limited to.
As for the head set: Its good that any BlueTooth one will work but for quality the official one works best yet its Sony’s fault you hear bad quality in most games because Sony still dont bundle their headsets with the console like MS do.

I am using First Party PS3 Headset. And yes PS3 voice sucks in comparison. It’s a pain in the ass to even start a chat with someone unless they are in the same game as you. Be a fan boy all you want.. but MS does do a few things right and Voice chat is one them. Also because Voice is built into the service everyone has it. 95% of all games I ever join have people talking. Sometimes I don’t want to hear them but majority of the time I do. On the PS3, in CoD4 I would say less than half of the people use voice where on 360 I find 95% of everyone uses it. And voice makes a huge difference in gameplay. Usually the people that don’t aren’t coordinating and just do the lone wolf thing, which screws the team.

Ventrillo and Teamspeak have ALWAYS cost… they just cost on the Server side of things. If you have 10 friends, someone has to be running the server software and it isn’t free for use.

*Edit* I appologize, it seams Ventrilo and TS are both free to the home users. However it’s still not part of a system where everyone has it and is seamless between and during games.

I personally would even pay for a Service on the PC if it made my gaming with friends as seamless as Live does.

Must have changed then, i’ve had TeamSpeak running my computer as a server and it didnt cost me anything at that time.

Thanks about the MW2 wallpaper tea, even though it wouldn’t let you send it.

    I appreciate the thought…

Yeah, and I was surprised when I found out that I couldn’t get any films on the Euro PSN store. I was really looking forward to DL’ing some 1080p films, which I don’t think XBL does yet.

    #62 5 years ago
  63. MushroomStamp

Films in 1080p run 15-18GB in size… not practical for storage. However streaming would be less of an issue as you only need a good buffer/spooler.

ummm mushroom have you been in the ps store? it shits on netflix and style sony has it set up is just superb. The TV,Anime,Documentaries are just fabulous quality. Hell even the SD stuff looks awesome upscaled.

If you want true 1080p Super Hi def then Blu-ray is the way to go. If you want great looking 720p hd stuff then the ps store is your spot. You guys will get it this winter I’m sure and trust me you’ll love it.
