I have a mate with 2 360′s. 1 for the online and the other for the copies. Every now and then he swaps profiles around to update his achievements and avoid the banhammer. Will download only stop piracy? Doubtfull, but every (non)story like this must have the execs wanting it to happen.

I can’t think of too many games that I wanted so bad I would be desperate enough to try and play it before it was released. And even most of those games, after the hype wore off, settled into just being another game. Forza 3 isn’t gonna be much different then Forza 2. Kinda like being foaming at the mouth for the new version of FIFA or Madden. You pretty much know what your getting, what the heck can get someone so motivated to have to have it so bad?

Comes on 2 discs. You can install the second to the HD and it never asks for it again apparently – only a couple of gigs on that one.

Halo:ODST also came on two discs. With the Halo3 multiplayer on a disc by itself.

is it easy to mod a 360 and play pirated games anyway? I though you could only mod early 360s. Oh well time for internet detective work….(aka you tube )

I doubt it. Otherwise you could sell it on. The Forza 3 extra disc I presume is useless without the main disc.

The Halo odst campain and firestorm are on disc one and all of the online multiplayer stuff is on disc two – that disc works inlue of the Halo 3 game disc for online.

dudes…first of all no one got banned playing odst english version only the ones that played the french version got banned and this one (forza 3) is stealth patched and no way you could get banned…the only problem is that it’s ntsc/u and people with pal and ntsc/j xbox’s can’t play it

question… if I buy M$ overpriced wifi adapter is it alright if I pirate this game? just asking no flaming please.

G1GA I would never do that for many reasons
1. I love my art covers,booklets,and case collection.
2. Its the Gaming industry, an industry I love and respect more than any other medium on the market regardless of the 3 console makers.

I only wanted to see other peoples feelings toward a situation like that. M$ has fucked over the consumer so much with overpriced crap,unbelievable failure rates,and that snake of a move charging people to play games online that most people feel M$ owes them something back.

Whenever I turn my 360 on the first thing I do is scroll to your avatar and check your status. While I’m doing that I can’t help but to notice you’ve paid $50 every year for the past 2+ years just to play COD4 mostly.

Now I know $50 isn’t much to me or you, but think about all those people who really don’t have it. It then becomes should I pirate the game and pay for live, or pay for the game and only get to use half of my investment. Now don’t go shouting BLAH,BLAH,BLAH because the next time you go out to eat pay for a whole meal but only eat half and throw the other half away even though you are still hungry.

Do you see my point. M$ is giving reason to pirate games on their console. Not directly but indirectly because people don’t want to feel cheated. If they do then they will steal. Hello “music industry” anyone.

Even though pirating games is wrong (that’s right wrong not illegal) what M$ is doing is wrong too. So this just leaves us with one ultimate question. PS3 or 360? And no slayernl not every game gets pirated at least not when it comes down to the certain platform. I doubt anyone will be pirating Uncharted2,GodofWar3,GT5,and Heavy Rain.

Well well well the celebrity is talking to me now. To what do I owe this honor. I haven’t sync my trophies in a while because I’m in a heated competition thank you. Its a stealth tactic I’m using. So just be prepared to see the hardest trophies for any game on my list soon. Oh and Mr. celebrity check out that Wipeout HD Platinum. Oh….ok thought so..go sign some more autographs.

I just think it’s funny… I mean you spend a lot of time ragging on all the “bad” games you don’t like, but you’ve got a platinum trophy on one game with a sub 50% average, and another with a game that’s sub 70%.

Not sure how much attention should be paid (with regard to the quality of a game) to someone that can stomach 100%ing games like that.

Yeah, I see the point that you are making… and I can totally understand all the PC gamers who are used to gaming online for free when they talk about XBL as a rip off.

Thing is though, I see it more as a service on top of online gaming. When I think about it, I really enjoy all of the features that XBL offers. I’ll give you an example…

Most nights, I turn on my 360 and, like you, the first thing that I do is go to my friends list to see who’s online. It’s usually the same bunch of people, and they’re usually playing CoD4, or some other FPS. Sometimes they’re all in a party, so I just join the party and one or two of them will switch from in-game chat to party chat, say hi and tell me that they’ll invite me in the next game.

Sometimes people aren’t in a party, or they’re playing different games. In which case, at some point, invites will go around and we’re all playing CoD4 or in a party sooner or later. Sometimes we can’t be bothered to play CoD4, so we might play BF:MC/1942 or Worms 2 or L4D or whatever, but switching between them, chatting, people dropping in and out of the party to say hi, etc all works so seamlessly.

I can check friends lists of friends and what games they’ve played, and when they played them and their gamerscore, and where they’re from, and read a bit about them etc, etc.

I can DL demos, videos and HD films all from the same, unified Marketplace.

When I think about all of that, I don’t mind paying for it, because it’s a service that I’m certain that I can’t get anywhere else on any other platform. If it was free, all the better, but no other free system for online gaming offers me anywhere near as much in terms of quantity or quality.

If these features and this service that brings me so much fun almost every night after a hard days work was taken away and replaced with an inferior online service, even though it was free, I think I’d be pretty upset.

The thing that I would say that MS is being unfair with though, is preventing people from even playing online games without paying.

Sure, the service, the features, the earlier demos, etc those are all extras that cost money to impliment and not everyone might see any appeal in them. But instead of offering these things as an extra on top of a simple online system, MS have prevented anyone from gaming online without paying, which is, again, a bit unfair.

However, I don’t think that even that unfairness could be a reason to pirate their games. At the end of the day, MS or even Sony and Nintendo could charge $1000 a game if they wanted to, because it’s their product and their business and it’s us who go to them to be entertained by their products. No-one forces us. So if I actually paid $160 instead of $60 to play CoD over the last 2 years, then it’s because I think that I’m getting a reasonable amount of value.

(btw, it’s more than 2 years. It’s just that one year my Gold membership ran out in the middle of the month, so I had to wait until payday to renew it…)

reporting on it doesn’t effect a thing. People have been ripping games since Atari 2600 and every single console/PC since then that I am aware of. Ignoring the fact and not reporting on it just seems rather “Ostrich like”.

G1GA, I can download demos,videos,and HD vids all from the same unified PS store but here’s what seperates us. I can “BUY” SD and HD movies. If I want to spend $5.79 that’s what Sony will charge and take. Not like M$ who forces you to spend $10 in stupid M$ points when the item you want cost $6. Then they have the nerve to say we’ll keep your $4 change when you want some more stuff later.

Back to the $50 rip off. I wanted to send you a wallpaper (1080p) of MW2 the other day and couldn’t because I don’t have a Gold sub….WTF its only a pic, but I can still vid chat with a silver sub. Yea….that’s just wrong man. They are using tease tactics to pressure people into buying a gold sub which is a fucking low down dirty tactic.
