Bayonetta – Video of PS3 vs 360 version [Update]
Ready to play spot the difference again? GT’s posted up some direct comparison footage of the PS3 and 360 versions of Bayonetta. Get it after the break.
We’re saying nothing. Xboxes are better than PlayStations though, right?
That’s a joke.
Thanks, Kotaku.
Update - Eurogamer’s posted an excellent comparison of the two demos. Thanks, mescalineeyes.

That’s a fair amount of stuttering on the PS3 version :S

According to SlayerGT the devs are only limited to the hardware they’re working on.

Seems to me like Ps3 seems more brighter and stutters quite a bit while 360 seems more crisp with more jagged edges. Overall very small difference not as bad as the difference of Ghostbusters prepatch on Ps3 vs 360.

Game definitely gives Devil May Cry a run for it’s money. I dare say the core mechanics are even better.

I don’t know why people are so shocked by this. It’s very simple and has been said by everyone in the industry. Given both platforms, if they are shooting for identical release dates, the 360 will always look better. The reason given is nothing to do with capabilities of hardware. It has to do with the amount of extra development time it takes to program for the PS3. If they allowed an extra 2 months for the PS3 version it would look just as good if not better. But publishers don’t like having a version delayed past another so they force unified release dates. The 360 is simply easier to develop for and requires fewer resources.

word, MushroomStamp.
I mean, the ps3 version is not abysmal, and the demo is not final code, but if you have the choice, go for the 360 version. if you have no choice, you still need to buy this game

Somehow I wonder what Uncharted 2 would look like if released on XBOX. Don’t say the usual first party “it can only be done on PS3″ rant, if you want there is always a way.
MS need to buy studios like Naughty Dogs or something…

Yay, crazy plinky-plonky piano jazz! I remember seeing some of the screenshots before, and it just looks like the PS3 version’s blurrier and a little brighter. That’s about all I can discern.

@8 Naughty Dog is loyal to Ps3, that and Sony owns them

And Microsoft are getting rid on 99% of their studios anyway, they really don’t seem to want to be a first party publisher outside of Lionhead and Rare.

“And Microsoft are getting rid on 99% of their studios anyway, they really don’t seem to want to be a first party publisher outside of Lionhead and Rare”.
Which will be thier downfall as 3rd partys can only take you so far.

Should this still be happening folks.
I mean are first party devs the only ones that can handle the cell?
I have to say this would not bother me too much as gameplay rather than graphics are more important to me.
Still I read certain members thoughts on this site about there ps3 been superior to all and sundry and the rip off MS are I have to wonder who is the one that’s pulling the wool over there loyal following?
I agree 360 hardware has been a major problem since launch although I have heard plenty of PS3 stories.
I dont think it is as unreliable as 360 btw.
When all is said and done the 360 is a good gaming console as is the PS3 imo.
I just wish some folks would come off there high horse when they constantly remind us of the inferior console we have purchased.
Both consoles have there good points and bad points but as far as gaming goes they are the best 2 on the market imo.

“I mean are first party devs the only ones that can handle the cell?”
Not really, some 3rd parties have no trouble with it when they actually try. I mean look at CoD4; The PS3 version is apparently identical to the 360 version, IW even said that developing on the PS3 was easy and that other devs were blowing the whole thing out of proportion.

I disagree with you hindle on the third party thing.
I like exclusives but as long as devs like rockstar and valve to mention 2 are developing for my gaming needs I have no issues.

OK gek maybe that comment on the cell was uncalled for.
I suppose I am just trying to convey the picture that the 360 is a babe as far as developing goes.
It has a lot of other issues I know but it does do gaming pretty OK.
I will not put PS3 down but I will take issue with it been put on a pedestal by some members.
After all there are exclusives on both that are pretty damn good.

Reask, was just saying id like to see Microsoft create some first party studios like Sony and Nintendo did, so far Microsoft have just bought thier way to the top for example new Splinter Cell or Gta dlc or Alan Wake, and you cant go wrong with Rockstar or Valve amazing studios

dont get me wrong hindle I have no illusions about MS been some sort of angels.
I also think no different of Sony.
I mean heres the guys who said get 2 jobs and you will be able to afford a PS3.
I just like competition as it makes these corporations have to work harder for our money.

and finally, I am vindicated.
might want to link to this one as well, Pat; much more professional than whatever GT churns out these days.

I’d be amazed if anyone tried to extrapolate anything about either console from this.
Neither version represents the pinnacle of each console’s capability, and the only conclusion I can draw is that developing on 360 then having someone else port it to PS3 isn’t the best approach, and that judging by the jaggies the developer isn’t that hot on 360 either.

Multi-platform games look better on 360: “LOL PS3 is crap, 360 looks way better!”
Exclusive PS3 games look better than exclusive 360 games: “So what? No-one cares about graphics, gameplay is far more important.”
Next week: Why miis, Home, internet and motion control are/will be awesome on the 360 but are just gimmicks on everything else.

reask, kutaragi didn’t say it like that. he said some people will think the ps3 is far too expensive so they may say to themselves I’m wiling to work two jobs to buy a ps3.
The hype was so grand for PS3 most people really thought that way. I paid $600 and $500 for mine and can say they were well worth it….now

I can’t tell you how much this type of thing reminds me of last gen. The xbox was more powerful then the PS2, period, More memory, faster proscecor, 4 controler ports built in, very focused with maiing their games online, large harddrives(compared to mem cards), etc etc.
In the end it just didn’t matter. The most games were built for PS2 and then ported to xbox(and GC, if they were lucky). Most multiplatform games were made(read wattered down on xbox) to be of comparable quality on each system. It used to really piss me off, because I owned a xbox and wanted to see what it could really do.
I can list a long ass list of things that PS3 has that xb360 doesn’t. From wireless net, Blu-ray, to rechargeable controllers. And while as of yet I am not convinced that the PS3 really does have more power(this gen system specs are much muddier and harder to disypher – ex, who really know what a Cell proscecor can do? Me? You? Nope.), but I am thinking the PS3 might have a few more horses. Like I said, I don’t honestly know, maybe I just been swayed by the hype. Yet even with all of those seemingly obvious reasons why the PS3 should blow xb360 out of the water, the xb360 is still the world wide leader in many many important areas(between the PS3 and xb360 – I can’t include the Wii that is its own beast).
Install base, face it more folks own xb360s then PS3. Netflix, xb360 has it, I don’t know much about UK sky TV, assuming its simaler isn’t it? Anyways USwise Netflix and instant view movies/tv owns hardcore. The smoothness, ease of use, and functionality of LIVE. Sony has been chasing a LIVE like online experience scince last gen. PSN is getting better, but so is LIVE. Price, xbox is cheaper to buy. Sometimes it is less about the value in the box, and more about the precieved value of the price tag on the box that counts and drives sales. Word of mouth. Last gen it was PS2 everyone was playing. TV shows mentioned and showed PS2 if thy mentioned games. This gen its xbox360s. The new Natal was unvieled/demo/played on a popular late night TV show here in the US.
Its just funny how much like last gen this really is, just change the names around. Its very much the same.
The “war” between systems isn’t something most people care about. It is a manufactered thing that drives, website visits, msg brd posts, mag sales, TV shows, and to a very small extent game sales. I own a PS3, I own a xb360, and even a Wii. I can tell you beyond the shadow of a doubt a game like Bayonetta is not going to drive me to buy more games for one system over the other. I don’t think it will drives system sales of either. Its just not that good.
Also it strikes me that, to be very bluntly honest, the argument of system vs system is insane. Lest the way most folks go about it. At this point both systems have high end graphics. Both are capable of amazing visuals. If a game is slopy on one system it is more likly the failure of a group of programers. Either they didn’t have enough time, money, people or even talent. Is the PS3 tougher to handle then the xb360? I have no idea, I am not a game developer. If it is then Sony messed up. Having power is no good if people can’t use it. Would be like a brand new sports car with a gas tank so small you would run out of gas five miles down the road. Time will tell. At this point, and it shows with games like this one, and Orange Box, and many others, the primary system is the xb360. Things get ported from there. Again, last gen it was the ps2. Raw system power has nothing to do with it.
I do say I also get sick and frick and tired of people touting the PS3. It has good games. But it gets old being beat in the head time and time again with the same worn out, water loged, half burnt firestick. I will say it right here, so there is no shadow of a doubt, while I own a PS3, I strongly perfere to play my games on xb360. From controller comfort, to the real life friends and family I know that play on LIVE, to some of the exclusives, to xbox arcade(my wife just bought puzzle Boble, play Pegel, Zuma, Jewel Quest, and several other long time exclusive xbla games we can’t get on PSN), to Netflix … I like xb360. Period. I do play PS3, some. Both systems are quality systems. Play what you like. But stop making it a system thing. If I don’t like UC2, trust me it has nothing to do with it being a PS3 exclusive. I just don’t like it. If Sony came out with a PS3 EverQuest, New Champions of Norath, a good Untold Legends, or something else that I liked I would be all over it. Till then Ima be mostly on LIVE. Thats my pov, because some folks seem to hate me for my posts, I felt compelled to explain, not sure why lol go figure.
