    #29 5 years ago
  30. Syrok

How can it be a Gears of War killer if it’s in a different genre? :P

    #30 5 years ago
  31. theevilaires

they both take use a cover and 3rd person shooting system. they are more similar than R2 and Gears Syrok, but that didn’t stop xbots from comparing them. Also Gears and UC were M$ top exclusives during their consoles first holiday year on the market.

So they are comparable many ways

    #31 5 years ago
  32. freedoms_stain

GoW is primarily co-op based and sci-fi, they’re pretty different.

    #32 5 years ago
  33. DaMan

Redh3lix, Edge are actually very good. they don’t automatically give a game 9/10 just because it’s called “FF” or “Halo”.

    #33 5 years ago
  34. Freek

Ah so it’s fairly decent then. I dunno, I really liked the first one but I’m not sure I should buy this one considering the reviews are so incredibly low.
I mean, it can’t be that bad, right?

Perhaps they should do a demo, a taste of multiplayer or something….
Ah who am I kidding, that’ll never happen.

    #34 5 years ago
  35. Dr.Ghettoblaster

The similarity to Gears of War is that you can slam up against pretty much anything to take cover, then pop out and back into cover for shooting, very well controlled. That’s where any comparisons should stop. :)

    #35 5 years ago
  36. theevilaires

so what if the have different aspects freedom, naturally they are the same. take cover, shoot, and progress further until a cut scene. Plus like I said Gears was M$ big holiday blockbuster title in around their first full holiday season year. Vise versa UC for sony but only one has managed to improve upon (in almost every aspect it seems) after it’s predecessor.

Go play the beta and see what I’m talking about. Also there’s some scenes with drake accompanied by a NPC. Trust me if Naughty Dog wanted co-op they could have added it. Which probably leads to UC3.

Repent Now Xbots and /Pre-order/buy the Uncharted/PS3 bundle. :D “The Beast Has Awakened”

    #36 5 years ago
  37. Dr.Ghettoblaster

Been playing the beta for last several weeks. It’s awesome.

Oh yeah, plus the teammate revival – forgot to mention that comparison. Great addition. Definitley gears inspired for sure man which is fantastic. “Gears of War killer” though made me laugh.

Xbox Fanboy: Gears gets 10 = Wow, fantastic, totally getting this game.
PS3 Fanboy: Uncharted gets a 10 = Jesus coded this himself and all xbots will repent the day they bought their console. This is the true next gen which starts now and everything in my life has lead up to and has been affirmed by this game.

Honestly. The reason I have anything at all against the PS3 is the fanboys constantly making a fool of themselves on the internet.

You can’t be serious? Its the same way for both sides. The most annoying 360 fanboys are just as bad as the worst PS3 fanboys. 360 fanboys are anything but polite and humble. Where have you been?

The reason you hate PS3 is because you’re not worthy to grasp the power of the cell. What’s the matter? you wish you could change that 9 back into 6 you noob? Now STFU and take your cry baby error e47 ass back to eurogamer. :P

(he’ll probably cry now thinking I’m serious) :D

P.S. on a serious note Galactic is right. They could dish it out in 2006, but for some reason it’s not ok to dish it back in 2009…whatever :P

    #63 5 years ago
  64. Galactic_Barret

Is any of that necessary, though? The numbers, reviews, and the game speak for itself. I have a preference myself, but I’ve never had the urge to disrespect any console, because I enjoy them all. Care to give me a little insight? I really want to know, besides the attention, why is there a need to do any bashing?

    #64 5 years ago
  65. theevilaires

i don’t know? why was it ok in 2006 when it was the ps3 getting shit on, but it’s a hate crime now in 2009 when the 360 is at the other end. all i said was this is the ps3′s gears killer. xbots got pissed as usual crying that I’m picking on their console of choice. so fucking what cry me a river. Its not my fault they only thought in the now and not the future.

Now look at them, crying and coming on playstation related news when they don’t even have a PS3 which makes their input irrelevant. LOL whats the matter? they finish their over priced expansion pack already and now are outside with their faced pressed against the glass wishing they had bought a PS3 instead. :P

I state my opinion and he gets his panties in a bunch LMAO. typical XBOT! Truth hurts doesn’t it :D

I still dont see how a clumsy mashup of two much better titles – Gears of war and Tombraider – gets PS3 owning morons so worked up.

The first Uncharted was simply awful. The combat was laughable and the exploration pointless and boring, and gameplay footage from UC2 looks just as awkaward and derivitave.

Ah well, we know from past experience that PS3 owners are VERY easy to please. Enjoy your dross!

    @ Blerk:
I wonder if I can persuade my errant brother in law to pick this up instead of his usual licensed movie shit?

Why don’t you get this yourself and play it on his console in his presence? That way you’ll experience a supposedly great game and he might realize what he’s been missing and spot the err of his ways.

@Pud: I think it’s just because this place has more PS3 fanboys that I can’t avoid. And they seem to scream the loudest on the internet these days with claims of bias every two seconds just because their games aren’t getting the scores they want. I can understand fighting your corner, but making an ass hat out of yourself and just making all gamers look like petulant children at the same time irks me so.

First I like the games, not the hardware they are on. That said i do have a hardware preferance due to the comfort of the systems controler, and the function of the systems online. Hence my seemingly fanboy system preferance. But I have to agree with one thing: of all of the sites I go to, this one is loaded with PS3 fans. I like this site the best Gameindustry biz is nice too. But this is the only site I go to that I chat on that is in the UK. So I figure that is the reason in the states, hands down, its not fanboy its fact – the xb360 kills the PS3. Kills it, in terms of sales. Period. Not even close. However it seems in the UK it is close. No harm, I could careless. Again its, about the games. Just something I have noticed. And it is prolly a flash point here. Between Yanks and Brits. But look at it this way, if this site were japanesse the locals wouldn’t be able to understand why the rest of us don’t all go crazy for handhelds.

    #90 5 years ago
  91. theevilaires

shall i go pick some of your not so smart fanboyish comments from eurogamer xbot. does this sound familiar from ’06. lol the ps3fanboys have no games to play go watch a movie. well now its our turn You have no games to play, you have to starve until you get some (decent) exclusives in 2010 :P have fun watching everyone that has a ps3 or both consoles playing awesome exclusives such as UC2.

and stickboy don’t talk about UI because the NXE should be called the NSE (you figure it out).

    #91 5 years ago
  92. No_PUDding

Chris, maybe you are right. Like to think theres opinions and stuff under there don’t don’t just make him a companies bitch.

Hunam, all fanboys are like it. To me it’s matter of perception, ‘loudest’ really doesn’t exist on the internet so it’s just what you’re seeing. All I was saying is there’s probabaly better ways of dealing with them than reacting like that.

    #92 5 years ago
  93. JonFE

If you bought your PS3 at launch on full price and have been *constantly* enjoying playing it since then, then all the power to you.

But you cannot possibly deny that, for some people, the PS3 (since its release and for quite some time after) offered less gaming thrills than its price demanded. Combine that with the hyperbole of Sony claims and a fair chunk of the criticism seems valid.

Now that the games are beginning to deliver and the price is getting reasonable, the tables may have turned. But the PS3 sure took its sweet time getting there…

You do realise you can actually make a concious choice not to be a fantard right TEA? There are times when you seem borderline reasonable, and other times when you’d fit in better at N4G or GameFAQs than anywhere semi civilised like VG247.

    #95 5 years ago
  96. theevilaires

PUD WTH I make one statement, someone replies, I replied back with my own opinion that I’m sure many can see my point and the Xbots come out crying. You’re right its not 2006 anymore and that’s what they hate the most. Everyone said it would take the PS3 some time to really awaken and now that it has the great exclusives aren’t going to stop anytime soon.

Die hard XBOTS feel so stupid now because the shoe is on the other foot that they have to respond to any M$ criticsm. Look at all the forza news. these idiot are comparing that game to GT5 prologue. Like I said don’t spit in the wind because it can come back and hit you in the face. Go play Halo and STFU. If I was wrong about any of this none of them wouldn’t even bother to respond. But when the truth hurts it stings.

    “PS3’s atrocious UI”

Heh. Clean, simple to use and easy to access what you want. Oh so very atrocious. Light on features compared to the NXE certainly but it’s miles ahead in terms of design and usability. NXE has too many ways to get to the same place and when you back out you don’t always back out to where you came from. Not to mention the flood of advertising and crap it compels you to look at.

    #108 5 years ago
  109. SticKboy

There’s advertising on the NXE? If so, I’m completely unaware of it.

Also, you are factually wrong about it being miles ahead in terms of design and usability. So ner.

    #109 5 years ago
  110. G1GAHURTZ

The XMB is fine, and just that. It’s not amazing, but it does the job well enough.

The NXE is good, but behind the XMB in terms of ease of use. There are a few annoying features with the XMB, but NXE has many more.

Having said that, on a gaming level, the NXE wins hands down in terms of features and functionality. Parties, cross game chat, so many more details on other gamers, like location, etc…

    #110 5 years ago
  111. dirigiblebill

+1 to the idea that the XMB wins on usability (I also rather like the little background glitter effect they’ve put in recently), but the NXE pulls ahead on functionality. At the end of the day neither interface is “broken”. Horses for courses and all that.

    #111 5 years ago

FACT: PS3 Fanboys are the worst

    #127 5 years ago
  128. theevilaires

Listen,(well read) I never intended for my first comment to sprout into a ball of rage. I simply think that UC and Gears are comparable because they were M$ and Sony’s major holiday titles for the first annual year on the market. They are both 3rd person shooters and while they do have unique gaming elements from one another anybody with a brain can see my point that they fall into the say category.

You people forget that RFOM was compared to Gears1 in 2006. They are totally two different genres, but did that stop every 360 fanboy site from saying Gears shits on RFOM. NO it didn’t. When in common sense RFOM should have been compared to PD:zero (both launched titles). Does that make sense? So my (opinion) on UC2 vs Gears2 should sound just as valid am I right?

JonFE I agree with you 110%. I have never disputed those reasons. It happened with the PS1, it happened with the PS2. So no one should really be stunned by that obvious fact. But doesn’t that apply for the 360 as well? What did it have at launch that was so awesome you had to go out and spend $400+ dollars. Some xbox owners have paid top dollar for their 360′s with little to offer on day 1, and still refuse for foolish self ignorant reasons why they won’t buy a PS3 which is half the price now, offers more value, and has the best exclusives in any genre.

That my friends is what you call a “FANBOY”. You all call me a fanboy and to some degree that is true, but if I were one completely then how was I able to see past all the negatives the 360 has and still purchase one. So what am I now by your stanards? A troll? A lunatic? or am I just a hardcore gamer with a passion for great games? Label me as what you want, but one things for sure I can back up whatever I say and I’m not afraid to admit when I’m wrong.
If you are telling me that this game is not worth a purchase of a PS3 alone then please explain why a 360 for gears of war was.

    #128 5 years ago
  129. Gekidami

Jim Sterling is right, 360 fanboys are ignorant. Look at at any PS3 exclusive related article on this site for proof.

Oh and Gekidami, go back to the first page of this and look for the point where it all went to shit. Quite an excellent bit of flamebait and completely changed a the congratulatory and informative thread it had been until that point.

Oh yes, that suggestion was made because you crushed me.

What’s really sad is that you went through a few months of being a reasonable, intelligent poster with some good contributions… but it seems the old TEA is back.

As for my two cents, yeah, I added them after you started up. Except, strange… I was the first person in the thread with the post “The first one? Never knew that. Good job Naughty Dog.”. By the way, during your flaming… did you ever even think to congratulate the devs on a job well done, or were you just too excited to have some ammunition to further your cause?

I just doesn’t make sense, not like those companies are continually doing anything for you. They made hardware.. woop de doo… my only preference for systems is becuase I think the 360 controller is 10x more comfortable than the PS3 controller designed for small hands (mine cramp after 30 mins of PS3 controllers).
