Sony’s GC Press Event: Watch the moment the PS3 Slim is revealed
Pictures dont do this justice. After the jump is the moment SCEI president, Kaz Hirai, steps out on stage and introduces the PS3 Slim to the world, bringing to an end the worst kept secret in all of mankind. He also talks about the price cut as well.

All I am impressed by, (as I realised on Twitter, via that annoying Insomniac employee – I seriously hate him, with a passion) is that for once the massive slow Sony, actually is sending out the console they announced today.
Colour me imrpessed. Slowly becoming a streamlined company, dare I say?

Not sure if any of you read the official notice, but they are taking out the ability to run Linux.

Yep its true:
“The new PS3 system will focus on delivering games and other entertainment content, and users will not be able to install other Operating Systems to the new PS3 system.”
Its also says you need to buy a separate vertical stand (like with the PS2) to stand it up.

People are really sad about the loss of that horrible ‘shiny’ finish?

Well, it is a lifestyle product after all. Of course you want it to look pretty sitting on its pedestal in front of your TV.
