Red Steel 2 wouldn’t work on other platforms, says Ubi

There’s no chance of Red Steel 2 appearing on any other console that Wii, creative director Jason Vandenberghe has said in this fan Q&A.
“Red Steel 2 is Wii exclusive, and Wii MotionPlus exclusive,” said the developer.
“The core gameplay of intense, 1st-person swordplay simply doesn’t function the way we want it to without the Wii Remote.”
When asked if the intention was to create a franchise as big as Rayman or Assassin’s Creed in red Steel, Vandenberghe added, “I would love nothing more than if everyone with a Wii bought and played our game, and then went out and convinced all their friends who didn’t have Wiis yet to buy one and do the same thing.”
It’s out later this year.

bs, you could totally make this work with the right analogue stick. It’s just more immersive using the motion plus — if it works!

Sure you could make it work, but you only have to look at the PS2 version of Rayman: Raving Rabbids to see that you can’t underestimate the importance of motion control in actually making an otherwise unremarkable experience fun.
I doubt I’d have much love for the first Red Steel game without the backing of the Wii controls, but as it is, I still return to it for a quick blast, and I dare say the same will be true of The Conduit.

Precisely. Just because you could doesn’t mean that anyone wants you to.

I know one thing, it wouldn’t sell on the other two consoles even if it did work.

I saw the Red Steel for the first time the other day. It was on my HD 40″ TV. It was possibly the worst game I have seen for some time. I know it’s not supposed to look all that on a big set, but it was so blury and crap. The voice acting was shoddy and the bendy hand aiming was so funny… good luck to um I say…

I have to agree, the first RS was real shit. This looks a million times better, though
