E3 2009 – Sony press conference liveblog!

Tuesday, 2 June 2009 18:22 GMT By Patrick Garratt

It’s so on. Microsoft delivered a blistering E3 keynote in LA yesterday, leaving many shellshocked at the depth and quantity of its announcements and Sony with everything to do in its conference today.

PSP Go’s a cert, as are God of War III, Heavy Rain and the like, but what else? We could tell you what we know, but we’d be in mortal danger.

Don’t blink, for God’s sake. It’s make or break time. Nuke or die. Boom or bust.

The Sony E3 press conference starts at 11.00am PST/7.00pm BST/8.00pm CET. Get our liveblog after the break.

If you’re after streaming video, check IGN, Gametrailers, Gamespot or G4.

  1. Gekidami

Tell us what you know eh… Well i beleive Pat knows what this ‘BBC game’ is so i’m guessing it’ll be making a show.

    #1 6 years ago
  2. daytripper

will the “bbc game” be making a showing? i’ll paypal you £13.47 if you answer

    #2 6 years ago

I reckon this is gonna be HUGE!!

    #3 6 years ago
  4. Razor

I heartily recommend the Gamespot stream…been flawless streams for MS and Nintendo.

    #4 6 years ago
  5. Gekidami

Hard to say, Sony have already announced alot of their future games chances are they’ve already shot a good amount of their load. I just hope they dont hang around to much on PSP stuff, i honnestly dont give a shit about it.

    #5 6 years ago
  6. Roybott

Yeah Gamespot stream has been good to me so far (touch wood), and has full screen butotn unlike one of the others (G4 i think)

    #6 6 years ago
  7. Razor

I like how you’re building this up Pat…

    #7 6 years ago
  8. daytripper

the guys i know at sony liverpool know a couple of things and wont tell me ffs

    #8 6 years ago
  9. Robo_1

Sony so better have some huge guns to fire back at MS. A price drop and TRICO would probably win it for a lot of people.

    #9 6 years ago
  10. Gekidami

Can a price drop even be a secret? Retailers are forced to be told in advance and they’re all as leaky as gut syndrome. Unless its a really distant price drop.

    #10 6 years ago
  11. Razor

    I just want to see GT5 in some form…anything, even if it’s just a trailer I don’t care, just…something….

    #11 6 years ago
  12. Psychotext

Hopefully this will be good. GT5 & TRICO or bust!

    #12 6 years ago
  13. Shatner

Like with all other conferences, I’m hoping for something completely unexpected and compelling but not gimmicky. Surprises with substance are where it’s at.

I will, of course, fap furiously over anything God of War related.

    #13 6 years ago
  14. Cort

Sony desperately need a good show. I’m worried for them.

    #14 6 years ago
  15. ashers2ashers

you have to get a bus there?!

    #15 6 years ago
  16. daytripper

heavy rain night club scene demoed, with a release date

TRICO Trailer with Spring 2010 date

HAHAHAHA you fool no faith, you disgust me. begone!

    #18 6 years ago
  19. Gekidami

Thats another thing i dont want to see; Sony showcasing stuff they’ve already demoed in pre-E3 stuff.

    #19 6 years ago
  20. Razor

If Tretton comes out at the start and just has an honest moment and says that it’s been a difficult year for Sony has a whole he will instantly command a tonne of respect.

    #20 6 years ago
  21. Goliath

I need release dates. Too many titles are rumored to have slipped to 2010.

    #21 6 years ago
  22. theevilaires

if he says firmware 3.0 he will start a riot let alone be given respect.

    #22 6 years ago
  23. Psychotext

“if he says firmware 3.0 he will start a riot”

Doesn’t that depend on what’s in said firmware?

    #23 6 years ago
  24. Razor

An NXE equivalent would be pretty cool…though Koller has said it’s unlikely, which is a shame.

    #24 6 years ago
  25. Gekidami

The PS3 dosnt really need an interface upgrade though plenty of other basic options the 360 has are lacking.

    #25 6 years ago
  26. theevilaires

of course it does and assuming what they have to further approve psn on i say 3.0 should fill in the rest of the gaps.

    #26 6 years ago
  27. Psychotext

Maybe they’ll fix the battery/clock. That would be a megaton. :D

I’d actually laugh for real, would be awesome.

    #27 6 years ago
  28. theevilaires

Razor said: An NXE equivalent would be pretty cool…though Koller has said it’s unlikely, which is a shame.

who is this idiot, someone explain

    #28 6 years ago
  29. Goliath

A price drop is needed. Killzone 2 underperformed at retail and the early return on Infamous are lackluster. The software isn’t flying off shelves. The longer they wait to drop the price the more stagnant sales remain. No one wants to buy a console and have them drop the price a week or two later.

    #29 6 years ago
  30. theevilaires

maybe they will fix that, but i’m hoping for the real upgrade in-game xmb chat

    #30 6 years ago
  31. Gekidami

The XMB is perfect TEA, is dosnt need changing.

    #31 6 years ago
  32. Robo_1

    OHHHH Yeah – BRING.IT.ON :)

    Love E3 :)

    #32 6 years ago
  33. Goliath

There are rumors swirling at E3 of a Sony Mass Effect 2 announcement. Anyone thinks it could be true?

    #33 6 years ago
  34. Psychotext

Goliath: Quite possible… given EA basically ignored the game at their conference and MS didn’t show it.

    #34 6 years ago
  35. theevilaires

    Goliath said:Killzone 2 underperformed

how?, sales wise? who said kz was going to do halo numbers. you forget the playstation brand wasn’t built behind one genre like xbox. killzone is a technical master piece that M$ has yet to out do.

    #35 6 years ago
  36. theevilaires

    Moments, people, moments :)

    #37 6 years ago
  38. Gekidami

“Thank you good morning and welcome! Please take your seats!”
The MS and Nintendo conferences were missing that, atleast i didnt hear it.

    #38 6 years ago
  39. Goliath

    @ theevilaires

We’re not talking about what the game technically brings but at the rate it’s selling you know the turn around to profit will be a uphill clime. Sony admitted, they had bigger expectations.

    #39 6 years ago
  40. Gekidami

    Queen! Awesome.

    #40 6 years ago
  41. Goliath

Great intro but Beatles >>>>> Queen. Great choice of music though.

    #41 6 years ago
  42. theevilaires

i’m sure they did but i never read that statement before. many things have contributed to kz’s slow sales as you may put it. if i were to drop a list i’m sure you couldn’t disagree but i’m not here for that. kz will continue to sell as long as sony drops the price of the ps3. which i’m not holding my breath for

    #42 6 years ago
  43. theevilaires

can’t wait to watch this in home later!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    #43 6 years ago
  44. Goliath

    @ theevilaires

That’s what I’m saying. Drop the price and the hardware and software will fly off the shelves.

    #44 6 years ago
  45. Psychotext

Good god… they’ve got the “rent a whooper” crowd from the Ubisoft conference.

    #45 6 years ago
  46. Gekidami

Funny how he opened on the media leak and the public seems more active then at the other conferences.

I know right. They started great with 2 great PS3 showings and then jumped to PSP Go. Seriously, they should just focus on one thing. By the time they get back to PS3 the audience has already lost interest.

Seraphemz you’re fighting a war we can’t win anymore. please don’t resist join us…. XBOX is the future

    #110 6 years ago
  111. Goliath

Rising is an all new story and direction that focuses solely on Raiden. It isn’t a sequel. It’s an action game tailored to a more Western audience. Even more so that MGS4 was.

    #111 6 years ago
  112. Psychotext

Ok, bored with this. Off to cook… will be back for PS3 stuff.

God dammit, why not just show all the PS3 stuff and then move on. I have to sit through all this crap before the return to PS3 stuff. And can we please get some God damn release dates?!

Are they really focusing the Presser on PSP with just the odd bit of PS3?

    #116 6 years ago
  117. theevilaires

just tossed my original 20gig and 60gig ps3′s out the window. I’m afraid I’m dead serious Seraphemz. This day truly marks the end of an era. The book of PlayStation has finally closed in my life. It was fun but all good things must come to an end sometime…

  191. Robo_1

Wiimotion Plus for PS3 then. Not surprising, but maybe a little underwhelming in the face of MS’s announcement. We’ll see where they take it, hopefully they’ll leverage the camera and deliver something a bit more special than just Wiimotion plus.

    #191 6 years ago
  192. G1GAHURTZ

Now Modnation Racers looks really cool!

    #192 6 years ago

I like the creation… but I doubt I’d play the game.

    #194 6 years ago
  195. Blerk

Build your own racer looks fairly amusing. Surprised they didn’t go the whole hog and just stick Sackboys in there, tbh.

    #195 6 years ago
  196. G1GAHURTZ

The PS3 thing looks better than WMP though…

Besides, all that WMP will end up getting used with is some rubbish Wii sports clones and not much else.

If they can use these wands for some actually good HD games, I’m sure the results will be more than impressive.

    #196 6 years ago

Wasted time on AC2 and Waggle controller. No Heavy Rain release date or demo, no MAG release date. A bit underwhelming.

    #239 6 years ago
  240. Len

That was…underwhelming to say the least.

Last Guardian looked beautiful but that’s about it for me.

    #240 6 years ago
  241. Blerk

Tric…. Last Guardian and GoW3 were great. Rockstar announcement is tentatively interesting. The rest…. er… yeah.

But they did better than I thought they would! I wonder why we didn’t see Heavy Rain, though? Seems odd.

    #241 6 years ago
  242. Goliath

    No Ratchet and Clank even.

    #242 6 years ago
  243. Syrok

    Wasn’t underwhelming for me.
Last Guardian, GT5 (with WRC) is all very good in my book. The glowing vibrator waggle thing was cool too, even if Natal looked more impressive. Eitherway Nintendo has some work to do. Motion Plus is not really cutting it anymore, by the looks of it.

I could list Agent and FFXIV as well, but I don’t care about the latter and don’t know anything about the former.

    #243 6 years ago
  244. Gekidami

    No Vs. XIII either.

    #244 6 years ago
  245. daytripper

that was shite although god of war and uncharted looked great. no heavy rain release date??? god of war 3 2010?

    #245 6 years ago
  246. Goliath

Where the hell are all the exclusives. White Knight Chronicles announcement. Yakuza 3 stateside and Europe. What the hell man. You mean Uncharted 2 and another Ratchet and Clank is all the bolsters 2009?!

    #246 6 years ago
  247. Gekidami

They did bother announcing stuff thats already well and truely announced.

    #247 6 years ago
  248. Goliath

I can’t believe the focused on Agent and a Final Fantasy MMO when we get no mention of games on the horizon. Is VS XIII still coming?

    #248 6 years ago
  249. Blerk

I don’t think Nintendo does have work to do, Syrok. After all, regardless of how impressive Sony or Microsoft’s tech appears to be, they’re still add-ons and not integral to the system. Nintendo’s stuff is available right now and is the standard controller – they’ll still easily be the first port of call for the casuals and the bi/curious.

Although Natal didn’t half cause some conversation among the non-gamers around my office this morning. But talking about it and actually buying it are two very different things.

    #249 6 years ago
  250. G1GAHURTZ

I give sony a strong 8/10 for that conference.

Loads of cool games, motion control looked cool, etc.

Get marked down for coming up with a stupid price for the PSP.

MS conference was a strong 9/10, and Nintendo gets a 6/10 too.

    #250 6 years ago
  251. Goliath

    @ Gekidami

Gimme some damn release dates. Even if you tell me Heavy Rain is coming Spring 2010, I’ll feel better about a release window. Tell me White Knight Chronicles is on it’s way to Europe and N/A. Tell me Yakuza 3 is on the horizon. Tell me something.

    #251 6 years ago
  252. Syrok

    @Blerk that is true, too.

The Sony waggle thing looked more like what I was expecting from the Wii.

    #252 6 years ago
  253. G1GAHURTZ

E3 isn’t over yet… There’s still plenty of time to talk to the press about dates and other releases…

    #253 6 years ago
  254. Seraphemz

I think that if anything, Micro and Sony tied…

    IMO…obviously SONY was better

    #254 6 years ago
  255. Syrok

@Goliath: WKC was in the trailer that covered half of the games coming out, so I guess that confirms it’s coming to NA.

    #255 6 years ago
  256. G1GAHURTZ

Well if even you are calling it just a tie Seraphemz, I can’t be too wrong.

    #256 6 years ago
  257. Blerk

I think they pretty much tied on games. Microsoft won out on the ‘wow’ factor, despite me finding it about as interesting as… the Wii! :-D

    #257 6 years ago
  258. Seraphemz

I dont really think that Micro came out with something HUGE… Natal was cool..but what else? Raiden just showed pics… and what..HALO games ??

    #258 6 years ago
  259. Seraphemz

    More GOW on G4…

    #259 6 years ago

tied on games… are you crazy? man this guy actually believes the bullshit that comes out of his mouth

    #260 6 years ago
  261. Blerk

Well, there were two games at the Microsoft conference that I really liked the look of, and two at the Sony conference that I really liked the look of. Draw! See? :-D

    #261 6 years ago
  262. Seraphemz

    what were they?

    #262 6 years ago
  263. Goliath

Microsoft announced Halo ODST coming in September, Forza 3 in October, Splinter Cell Conviction and Left 4 Dead 2 in November and Alan Wake in Spring 2010 and Mass Effect announce by EA as early 2010 as well as Crackdown 2 and Halo: Reach which may have impressive showings next E3. The games showed impressed. They demoed Modern Warfare 2 and FFXIII running on XBox 360 hardware and Natal had a very impressive showing and may be the most exciting thing coming out of E3. They also landed a Metal Gear Solid game developed by Kojima Productions. Anyone who think Sony had a more impressive showing is a fanboy. I got nothing. Not even a release date for Uncharted 2.

    #263 6 years ago
  264. Blerk

Alan Wake and Crackdown 2 versus Last Guardian and God of War 3. I would’ve included Final Fantasy XIII, but that was at both so they cancel each other out. Tentative interest in a couple of others from both conferences too, so all in all they both did about the same for me.

Sony’s first-party stuff seemed more comprehensive than Microsoft’s, though. I expected more non-Halo first-party titles from MS.

    #264 6 years ago
  265. G1GAHURTZ

I think you summed it up pretty well there, Goliath.

    #265 6 years ago
  266. Seraphemz

2009 line-up for Sony is already known and has been known.

    We saw FF 14 exclusive.

    Uncharted 2 gameplay was AMAZING

    Heard about Rockstar Eclusive.

    Saw official Trico game.

    God of War Demo.

    Metal Gear PSP.

    Gran Turismo PSP

    Assasins Creed PSP..

    COME ON !!!

    #266 6 years ago
  267. Goliath

So is Uncharted 2 coming out this year?

    #267 6 years ago
  268. Seraphemz

its been said that its coming out 2009.

    #268 6 years ago
  269. Goliath

    @ Seraphemz

What is the rest of the lineup for the year? Another Ratchet and Clank ( . . . a franchise that needs to be put to rest) and Uncharted 2 which didn’t even get a release timetable.

    #269 6 years ago
  270. Seraphemz

Heavy Rain is coming out 09 as well.

    #270 6 years ago
  271. theevilaires

goliath you are an idiot if you think uncharted is not coming this year.

Natal is next year which doesn’t do anyone any good because the tech is probably too expensive.

    Halo: really getting old

    Crackdown: infamous is better

Alan wake: silent hill clone= BORING!!!!

Modern Warfare 2 and FFXIII running on XBox 360 hardware: don’t make me laugh kid.

a Metal Gear Solid game developed by Kojima Productions.

yes by Kojima Productions, not Kojima!!!!!!!! and nt a true sequel its a spin off, i hated Ac!d.

  272. Blerk

Are you sure about that? I thought they’d already said it was a 2010 release. Regardless, Cage can’t get anything done on time – we’ll probably be lucky to see it before 2011. :-D

    #272 6 years ago
  273. Seraphemz

    Oh…and MAG and The Agency

    #273 6 years ago
  274. Goliath

Heavy Rain is not coming out this year. You and I both know this. It wasn’t even at the conference even though it’s playable at E3. They said on G4TV it’s coming 2010.

    #274 6 years ago
  275. Seraphemz

Im watching G4 right now and its on…lets see what he says.

    #275 6 years ago
  276. Goliath

MAG isn’t coming this year either and if it is, it’s lackluster. The Agency hasn’t been shown in ages. Come on man, we didn’t even see Yakuza 3. What the hell is up with that?!

    #276 6 years ago
  277. theevilaires

Goliath said: Another Ratchet and Clank ( . . . a franchise that needs to be put to rest)

such ignorance let me know M$ answer to that franchise then it can go to sleep

    #277 6 years ago
  278. Gekidami

Dont forget that unlike MS, Sony actually had games announced for 2009-10 way before E3 started, in the end its more about spacing, Sonys given out info over time, MS in pretty much one day, obviously the day after that day seems more impressive then whats came over 2-3 months.

    #278 6 years ago
  279. Psychotext

TEA… you make yourself sound like such an idiot writing off all those games. Preference is one thing, but you’re coming across as a full on shill.

    #279 6 years ago
  280. Seraphemz

ok.. he said Heavy Rain early next year. I stand corrected.

    #280 6 years ago

Sorry, it was on GameTrailers TV on Spike they said Heavy Rain was coming in 2010.

  282. No_PUDding

So I mean, that was a better presentation than I expected xD

But what the fuck is that shitty racing game… FUCKING STANDARD SONY, you need sackboys or Home avatsr in that thing, you fuckign ididots.

And even the motion controls looked not so bad. Not so inaccruate. Althoguh they do looks tupid, if you ask me.

    #282 6 years ago
  283. Goliath

    @ thevilaries

Dude, really Ratchet and Clank needs to end. Seriously. I don’t give a flying f**k about Microsoft, the franchise is past the expiration date.

I am reeling in all honesty.

    #284 6 years ago
  285. Seraphemz

I would prefer Jak and Daxter. Loved those games.

They might talk about more stuff after the presser right…like some luncheon they have?

When the hell is the BBC game going to be announced?

    Or likes different games. ;)

    #287 6 years ago

Syrok – Great point. I mean I dont give a crap about Halo so its not important to me. I would have liked to see ME2. That game i want.

of all the info gathered so far it seems sony has the best line up for 09 and 10. (imo)

    HEY..i forgot.. when can i my FF7 !!!

    #290 6 years ago
  291. Goliath

Could any of you give me an idea of what definitively is coming in 2009 for the Playstation 3? Seriously? The dick tease Sony does every year is pissing me off.

    #291 6 years ago
  292. Shatner

Well, hugely disappointed with their investment in a gimmicky controller. Tied into Eyetoy = expensive peripheral just to even get started with. Demo was cute but, really, novelty controllers can GTFO.

Happy with some of the unexpected announcements – Agent and FFXIV came out of nowhere. Disappointed that the latter is MMO as that does nothing for me. Maybe if it’s a truly decent MMO that’s truly free to play then I might try it.

Glad to FINALLY get a credible source of Trico/The Last Guardian information. I can start investing interest in it now. I liked the different shader used on the boy.

God of War 3 disappointed to be honest. VERY drab looking and seriously needs some of that epic God of War theme music to keep the momentum going. I’ll still adore it when it hits.

That DIY Racer could be interesting. Reminds me of Trackmania to be honest but then that’s not the worst thing in the world to be compared to.

If Sony are serious about taking “Play Create Share” in different directions then sign me up for a snowboarding effort right here, right now.

    #292 6 years ago
  293. G1GAHURTZ

Well IMO, over the next few days most, if not all of the independent gaming press are going to say that MS had the better conference, because of Natal and the Metal Gear deal.

Natal is something that the other two can’t really match (especially the XBL integration and facial recognition, etc) and the Metal Gear deal is a massive coup that brings the 360 a long, long way from where almost everyone had predicted it would be just a few years ago.

I really liked some of the Sony stuff, especially the car thingy, but I just think that more people will be wowed with what MS brought.

    #293 6 years ago
  294. Gekidami

Indeed the games Sony showed appeal more to me then what MS had, for the most part they’re sequels to games i didnt like (Left 4 [Content lacking], Snooze Down…).

    #294 6 years ago
  295. Goliath

I don’t even care about all the motion control stuff. Where are the release dates. GT5 – next year, GoW3 – next year, Heavy Rain – next year, MAG – next year (They didn’t even announce a beta), Last Guardian – Lord knows, Agent – Don’t even know or care what it is at this point, Yakuza 3 – no show, White Knight Chronicles – no show. What the hell, should have called it the Sony PSP Go conference.

    #295 6 years ago
  296. Seraphemz

Gig.. Natal was definately cool but was pretty much matched with the motion sensing. Not even the wii mote has that accurate of movement.

And the MGS Raiden wasnt even shown. Just picks. Its like getting all crazy about the Rockstar game with no real idea what its about.

    #296 6 years ago
  297. theevilaires

you really think sony won’t implement the few extra things natal can do by next year. are you people stupid. that tech is old. face detection. Kuturagi said the ps3 could have that in the ps3 from day one. give me a break people.

don’t get me wrong its cool and looks bad ass but all these M$ PR sites will call it the second coming for no reason and then they will say sony copied next year.

    #297 6 years ago
  298. theevilaires

if it isn’t tactical espionage action then i don’t care. If i don’t play as snake or big boss its not metal gear to me.

    #298 6 years ago
  299. Gekidami

On a side not did anyone see Demons Souls? Its meant to be coming to the US yet i didnt notice it in the trailers showing all the coming games.

    #299 6 years ago
  300. theevilaires

in whole i was disappointed because they didn’t say anything about firmware updates.

    #300 6 years ago
  301. Seraphemz

SONY was going to lose in the eyes of many whatever they did.

I love the PSP so all the games and the new one got me real happy. Im really liked all they showed.

( fanboy comment coming ) i guess since they have so much stuff they couldnt fit it in 90 mins.. or even 2 hrs like they had.

    #301 6 years ago
  302. Psychotext

Ehh… there was plenty of fluff they could have cut. Either way, the full picture will be known over the next couple of days.

    #302 6 years ago
  303. Seraphemz

True, i think that the vids of all the games could have been left out, and maybe the motion could have been shorter.

    #303 6 years ago
  304. G1GAHURTZ

The motion control presentation could have been so much better if they had shown it running in an actual game.

Natal is doing that dodgeball thing and Burnout, so they seemed a little bit like they just don’t have anything good enough to show yet.

    #304 6 years ago
  305. Patrick Garratt

I thought that was alright. I’ll do a “who won” feature this week.

Agent trailer please! But it IS Rockstar, isn’t it – so minimal marketing I am guessing.

    #311 6 years ago
  312. No_PUDding

There was one game, I forgot the name, but, ugh…. Oh yeah Last Guardian.

    #312 6 years ago

    @ Pat:

    #313 6 years ago
  314. DrDamn

I think MS had a very solid showing of good standard titles – what they lacked was anything different or new – aside from Natal. If you are a fan of those they did show then obviously you’d think it was a better conference. I think Sony showed more interesting stuff for me – Last Guardian, FFIV, Mod RaceNation and the motion controller stuff were good.

Oh and GT5 nabbing WRC and Nascar licenses – that’s pretty big news right there.

Both had good conferences, and my personal preference is with Sony, but a lot will prefer the MS stuff.

    #314 6 years ago
  315. Mike

Shame everything Sony showed was next year. Uncharted wsn’t dated either.

    #315 6 years ago
  316. fearmonkey

If your a Sony fan, then what they announced might have done it for you. I didn’t see a particular reason why I needed to buy a PS3, except for Last Guardian, which is not enough of a reason alone.
With MS, pretty much feel the same. There wasnt a real reason to make a PS3 owner buy a 360.
Nintendo is of course milking Mario for all it’s worth, and nothing new there either.

The motion controllers from Sony and MS look interesting. Sony is doing an extension of the Wii, and MS is doing something different not using a wand or dongle, though that would be easy to implement.

The question on how laggy the tech is for Napal, how much light it needs, how close you have to be to the camera, how good the audio pickip is, are unknown. If it can live up to what Milo and those videos show, then its going to be amazing, but im skeptical..
With MS and Sony, it really depends on the software. The Wii was built from the ground up to support that wand, laggy though it is. Every game uses it.
With a piece of hardware that people have to buy seperate from their console, its unknown how well it will sell.

The new motion controller winner will win due to the software, not the hardware. MS’s seem to be most unique, but its cost, and repsonse are yet to be seen.

MS’s won this E3 imho, but not by a huge amount. Only the promise of the Napal system, sets them ahead, and it remains to be seen if it was just hype or not.

    #316 6 years ago
  317. Goliath

    @ Mike

I thought I was the only one that noticed that.

    #317 6 years ago
  318. Mike

    It’s Natal.

    #318 6 years ago
  319. DrDamn

I think the Natal system is very good for non-gamers, but as a gamer I’m more interested in what they can do with the MotionPlus and Sony systems. They are going to be more accurate and have a greater breadth of uses. It’s all going to come down to the software though.

    #319 6 years ago
  320. Mike

I don’t see how it’s going to be more accurate tbh. Anyway, both release next year. Let’s wait and see.

    #320 6 years ago
  321. No_PUDding

One releases later one releases earlier.

One is waggle and Eyepet, one is Peter Molynuex.

I would just’ve liked to have been excited about the next 6 months. Apart from Uncharted (still not confirmed as 09), what is there?

    #322 6 years ago
  323. Goliath

    @ Mike

Don’t waste your time. I’ve been asking what’s really on the horizon this year and know one could tell me. Before E3 Sony had so many exclusives coming this year, now they have an unconfirmed Uncharted 2 and Ratchet and Clank. Microsoft has Forza 3, Halo ODST, Left 4 Dead 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction. How the hell the roles get reversed so quickly in 2 days?

    #323 6 years ago
  324. Len

Uncharted better be this year, I can’t wait till next for that!

    #324 6 years ago
  325. Syrok

I think Uncharted is still slated for Autumn 2009 release in the US.

    #325 6 years ago
  326. DrDamn

They will be more accurate because of the motion sensors built into the controllers and for the Sony one that it has something very specific to track. The hand writing demo showed how accurate it is. The avatar spazing out when the guy tried to show the bottom of his shoe showed how accurate the Natal system is. Neither are perfect, and both have limitations. There are a couple of fairly clear strengths/weaknesses from what has been shown so far though.

    #326 6 years ago
  327. Mike

Strange how there was now mention of it. Not even a “coming this fall.” Nothing.

    #327 6 years ago
  328. G1GAHURTZ

But Sony have already done a whole load for this year…

    KZ2, Infamous, etc…

(I’m sure there are more that I can’t think of right now)

What, have you guys finished with these and want more already??

    #328 6 years ago
  329. Goliath

Finished Killzone 2, working on Infamous. I think Infamous is pretty bland and boring. Just got Red Faction and getting Prototype next week. Don’t even play Killzone 2 online anymore, not interested in map packs.

    #329 6 years ago
  330. G1GAHURTZ

How did you get Red Faction??

I’m really looking forward to that game, but it’s not out until Friday…?

    #330 6 years ago
  331. Goliath

No, it came out today. I’m in the US.

    #331 6 years ago
  332. G1GAHURTZ

Oh, well that explains it then! lol.

    #332 6 years ago
  333. Goliath

It’s pretty sweet but the mission are already a bit repetitive. Blowing stuff up is pretty cool.

    #333 6 years ago
  334. theevilaires

you really think infamous is bland and boring Goliath? you’re the first person i got that from. i’m sure blerk would be second

    #334 6 years ago
  335. Goliath

To be honest, open world games have a tendency to get repetitive really quicking. The game is fill with repetitive taxi missions and fetch quests and there is no way to remain neutral. You’re either good or bad.

    #335 6 years ago
  336. Goliath

I actually like games that a linear with great set pieces and atmosphere. I loved Killzone 2, loved FEAR 2.

    #336 6 years ago
  337. theevilaires

thats the point hence the term “infamous” but i understand what you mean by open world games have a tendency to get repetitive. i can respect that judgment.

    #337 6 years ago
  338. theevilaires

then you’ll love UC2. its coming out this nov

    #338 6 years ago
  339. Goliath

Really hope Uncharted 2 comes out this year. And after how well Yakuza 3 did, I was hoping it would be released in Europe and North America but no announcement or even hint at the title.

*edit* you read my mind :D Love the first Uncharted.

    #339 6 years ago
  340. G1GAHURTZ

I’m more interested in the multiplayer tbh.

I play multiplayer a lot, so this looks like something fresh to give me a break from COD4 for a week or so.

The demo was a blast, so I’m looking forward to getting the full game.

    #340 6 years ago
  341. Goliath

Not big on multiplayer. Don’t have the time to invest to not be considered a noob. I guess it’s why I don’t play Killzone 2 anymore.
