lol… Nintendo feeling the heat? Their revenue in 2008 was around $19bn. That’s pure gaming revenue for one single company… without having to add up all the sales of business PCs to pad their numbers either.

pc gaming hardware and software making alot more money than nintendo could only dream about.

how is “new consoles” coming along

    http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2009/05/e3-predictions/

you better enjoy them now because this will be the last generation of consoles ever.

yea i hear people are paying like $80 for a game lol what a joke.

hey if I ever wanted to play a game on consoles I would just rent a 360,ps3 or nintendo.

If I ever wanted to own a consoles I would buy a used one at gamestop.

yea you will be seeing alot more console game devs going bankuprt oo. lol what a joke!!!

Good god… what are you smoking? The next MS, Sony and Nintendo machines are in development right now.

As for PC gaming hardware sales, I think you’d better stop swallowing the PCGA numbers quite so easily. Those numbers are taken from PCs “capable of playing games” – which is pretty much every machine sold.

(Funny thing is, this PC marketing droid is arguing with someone who has always been a PC gamer first and foremost. :D )

yea I am sure micro soft and sony share holders are real happy these companies are losing billions lol

why don’t they give me the billions of dallers insted I can use it.

yea you can bet both console game devs and hardware companies are going to lose alot more money. lol

yea this what EA had to say about pc gaming

Do you know why devs are always looking for alternatives to PC?

    One simple word.

    Piracy.

Want to know why Halo 3 is the biggest earning entertainment release, ever?

Because if it was on PC, probably half of it’s sales figures would have dissappeard into the bittorrent wilderness.

Devs don’t want to make games for PC, and they don’t like the PC.

The only reason that the few PC only devs remain is probably because their games just don’t work on console.

  7. Psychotext said:

Last I checked bdh, MS have been posting record revenue / profits over the last few years… and Sony are still profitable overall on their gaming division.

Just look at the console sales for COD4.

We’re talking about THE best selling FPS in history.

The vast majority are on 360, then PS3, then the former so-called king of FPS’s, the PC comes a distant 3rd.

If anything, the hardcore games are going exclusively to console, and the PC gamers are being left with solitaire and The Sims!

  10. blackdreamhunk said:

yea pircay is much bigger on consoles here take a look at nintendo dsi and wii it’s in the billions. In fact there is a market for pirated console games

    http://news.softpedia.com/news/Almost-1-Billion-Dollars-Lost-by-Nintendo-in-2007-78918.shtml

pirates don’t make money off of pc games. Then there is the used game market for consoles and rented games. ;)

oh those figures for nintendo are old I’m sure thereis alot bigger figures

  11. Psychotext said:

Shhh Shatner… arguing for the sake of arguing is fun! :D

Hey bdh, given PC game sales are so awesome, why are there only four titles that have ever sold more than 10 million? That doesn’t compare particularly well to the 20+ console titles that have done more than 10m.

Given there are supposedly 228m gaming capable PCs out there, that’s pretty poor indeed.

  12. blackdreamhunk said:

yea them shooters like must games on consoles are a joke!!!

what does console have to offer action games? how about watered dwon rpg”s. Yea the mindless buttom mashing and reshaed gamesply is real great.

last time i checkd pc gaming has alot more genres and makes more than console easy

    http://adrianwerner.wordpress.com/games-of-2009/

    http://pc.ign.com/index/release.html

yea I don’t see any console games making 2.5 billion how 16 million, 7 milliion

“last time i checkd pc gaming has alot more genres and makes more than console easy”

You’re not checking very thoroughly are you. :D But yeah, PCs are great if you like RTS.

So which are these PC games making “2.5 billion how 16 million, 7 milliion”

too bad this fish has some hard facts lol what a joke. you console fanboys are wasting my time come back when you have some hard facts next time.

  17. G1GAHURTZ said:

    What!?

Every single genre that you can think of that exists on PC is also available on console.

And if shooters on console are a joke, then why are more people playing them than on PC?

Why is the best selling and most played FPS in history way more popular on console??

Because PC’s days as a hardcore machine are fading fast, that’s why…

£300 every year for the latest graphics card with the most up-to-date version of DirectX…constant patches…aimbots and hax left right and centre…wait 6 minutes for your PC to boot up before you can even launch a single game…no single universal online community standard…cramp in your hands from pressing 10 different keyboard keys for things that only take one thumb on a console pad…restricted to a desk, can’t relax on a sofa…always need more RAM…fry your PC trying to overclock it because it’s 2 years old, which is practically ancient history…etc, etc, etc.

    Nah, sorry.

    Keep it.

Me and the rest of the hardcore gamers have made our choice.

Tbh G1Ga,if u think piracy is the issue here
am sad to say that you listen to media too much
360games are all over the web before the official release date, and 360s are EASY to mod even the NEWEST ones,
the fact that people don’t do it more often is because A:they don’t know how or/what to do/where to
    B:fear of avoiding the warranty

    For example:take 3rd world countries
where i live,Egypt, the only thing bigger than PC and PS2 here is the 360 ,a year ago people didn’t even know that MS has consoles !

but now 360s are in A LOT of homes ,why ?
easy answer,u pay 50$ for a mod job that DOESN’T EVEN remove your warranty sticker because the guy who does it is more pro than you think he would be

A lot of my friends in the UK who have 360s modded em ,and YES they play online with some kinda stealth program.

so please if u wanna take this to the piracy angle, tackle it differently

no flame intended or attack ,for that matter

blackdreamhunk, just…stop. :) Crytek made a decent buck on PC with Crysis and Far Cry but they want to sell more of course and they saw a really, really big challenge in making the CryEngine 3 run on current-gen consoles. Epic’s Tim Sweeney doesn’t even buy it that it’s possible btw, what kind of bigger motivation can you possibly give these guys? It’s something that might benefit the PC side as well with some better performance on multicores.

Besides, since there is no mention of bringing the original and Warhead to consoles these console gamers will want to try out those titles too once they finished Crysis 2. By then a PC that runs Crysis well will be absolutely dirt cheap so in the end PC always wins. Deep inside everyone knows that it’s still the most interesting platform there is… ;)

  27. G1GAHURTZ said:

It’s not that consoles are totally safe and secure, ShiroGamer, because they’re not.

It’s that PC’s are so easy to pirate for, that even your casual computer illiterate gamers can do it without too much hassle.

There’s virtually no point whatsoever in putting copy protection on any PC game, because all you need to do to bypass it these days is type the name of the game and “crack” or “keygen” into google and 5 minutes later you’re playing a free game.

Consoles are by no means perfect in this regard, but compared to PC, they’re a much safer option right now.
