Kojima teaser site reveals another countdown

Friday, 22nd May 2009 02:31 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

The Kojima teaser site finally switched around a bit, and after waiting around for the update, we were presented with yet another teaser.

The clock was reset, and now along with the flashing “S” or “5″ there are the  new letters and numbers “E”, “3″, and either a “q” or backwards “g”, possibly a “9″ or something else entirely.

We have no idea at this point.

All we know is that it’s a countdown to a countdown of sorts. Wait til E3 basically.

Go see for yourself.

Thanks for the company, Michael.

You’re quite welcome Stephany. That was quite entertaining, even if it was entirely anti-climatic!

The E and 3 are pretty damn obvious, but I’m curious about that other symbol. What the hell could it mean?

Bomb goes off. Oh, wait! It didn’t.

It will be MGS5 for PS3 with PSP compatibility, likely with Raiden being the main character.

OR, it’s a Raiden add-on to MGS4 along with trophies.

    Either way, I’ll be pleased.

I just wish Kojima wouldn’t tease us like this.

The countdown leads to E3 right?

Yes, but that doesn’t explain the other symbol.

No. It leads to year 2012.

Well if its going by hours, then it’s approx. five more days till the next reveal. Which could mean the magazines 7-eleven were talking about earlier. E3 doesn’t start until June.

    Right… my math sucks.

Looking at it closer, that mysterious symbol looks like a small E.

    Yup, it’s a lower case e.

But, isn’t it the Japanese Konami site? Japanese people use English letters?

You’re right Michael and Psycho it does!

chick: Of course Japanese do, but this is clearly counting down to an American event, and there’s plenty of English on the page.

Actually, this is my final guess. It’s not a lower case e, it’s the @ symbol.

    5 @ E 3

Metal Gear Solid 5 at E3.

There will be rioting in the streets if that happens :-)

    Oh. Didn’t know that. I’m guessing the message is MGS 5 at E3. 5 = Metal Gear Solid 5. E3 = the expo. 9 = 2009

This is probably pretty obvious, but I think Kojima’s going to reveal this sucka during his GDC Lifetime Achievement Award.

And I’d be really excited for a Snatcher game, or a remake of MGS1, or ZOE, but it’s probably a Raiden-central MGS5

No, the lower case e is the symbol for Snake in Japanese :)

So the message spells out 5, Snake, E3
    Nice try, though.

I’m sure like Michael O’Connor. In my honest opinion, the characters “5 @ E 3″ want to reveal Metal Gear Solid 5 at E3.

And it is for PS3 or PSP. Not 360.

It’ll be multiplatform. Kojima will be stupid to turn down the revenue.

  23. Psychotext

I doubt Kojima would much care. Konami might though.

    @Mike

dude! 3 stands for many things and 360 would be one of the very very far off ones. if we guess 3 would represent a console how ’bout PS3? it would be much closer than that right?

how ’bout 3 means they have 3 announcements? for 3 projects!

how ’bout 3 means their next project releases on the 3 leading platforms? 360, PS3 and PC?

how ’bout 3 means + e, does really stands for (Zone of) Enders 3 …

you have to pay close attention to the environments as well, cause Hideo-san made a lot of Metal Gear games, it doesn’t mean he’ll make Metal Gear for the rest of his life, he already said that, with acknowledging he can’t let other people create MG titles without his involvement, yes. But he has some other great games that even he himself want to work on them like Snatcher and Policenauts. in fact the 3 games are happened to be involved in the same world. even Dr. Madnar appeared in two of them as himself, MG and Snatcher.

anyway back to the background. you honestly think Kojima have randomly chose a grassy field as background so it’s cool? and the other day there was rain and thunder in it for making it sexier? how ’bout he is working on a project where he would like to show the environment is alive. why a vast field amongst other places?

Ladies and Gentlemen, Thunder, Mist and a vast grassy land does not represent Metal Gear, and even if it is and I’m wrong, this would be an entirely new project not some special edition or subsistansity or X360 version. It’s not like Kojima! Kojima is not a kind of person doing what he does for some expectable announcement.

“It’ll be multiplatform. Kojima will be stupid to turn down the revenue.”

Unless there are fat Sony cheques he’d be even stupider to turn down.

I hope this isn’t MGS related cus I’ve never been into that franchise.

The “multiplatform-because-of-the-extra-$$$” logic applies to every single game out there. You can argue that any game publisher would be a fool to turn down the potential extra revenue that going multiplatform would offer. Yet exclusives still happen.
