Wii sold more than 700k consoles in the US last month – Pachter

Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter’s just released his NPD estimates for February, predicting yet another giant month for Wii.
“We estimate sell-through of 725,000 Wii, 300,000 Xbox 360 and 200,000 PS3 consoles (a 26% year-over-year unit increase in consoles),” said the analysts.
“Our console sell-through forecasts reflect our belief that supplies for Wii hardware were up year-over-year. Double-digit hardware unit growth implies solid software sales growth for the succeeding year, giving us confidence in our 12% growth estimate for 2009 U.S. software sales.”
The final figures release this Thursday.

Here’s mine for the hell of it…
Wii – 705K
NDS – 516K
360 – 304K
PS3 – 285K
PSP – 236K
PS2 – 96K
Not sure why he thinks the PS3 is so low given the launch of KillZone 2. For what it’s worth, I reckon that’s going to be the highest number of Wiis sold this side of November. I reckon increased stock has helped finally deal with pent up demand (it’s been in stock virtually everywhere right through February) and we’ll start to see what the Wii’s sustainable sales are from next month.

If 360 and PS3 are that close it’s going to be an interesting few months. Be good to see what EEDAR says.

Oh, and if his figures come to pass you’re looking at these percentage changes from last year:
Wii: +67.82%
PS3: -28.77%
360: +17.83%

Wii – 690k
NDS – 505k
360 – 310k
PS3 – 300k
PSP – 236k
PS2 34k
Maybe I am being naive but I believe that PS3 figure is gonna be the NPD endgame for that mont, Killzone 2 should have moved that many anyways.
Agree with PT on the PSP numbers though.

I was wondering about that. You just about stuffed the PS2 in a coffin there.

What the hell? They’re identical to Pachter’s figures. I smell a rat.

Are we seriously only expecting 200k PS3s in Killzone 2 month?
Surely not?

Fairly pleased with my predictions this month. Underestimated the 360 a bit but was fairly accurate overall.
