God of War III – first trailer and Q&A

The PS Blog‘s gone live with the first God of War III movie. Watch it after the break.
There’s a Q&A through the link as well, taken from the press event earlier this week in LA, but no hi-res screens.
More soon, hopefully.

I say first official trailer, the trailer showed during those gaming awards looked more like a Teaser instead of a full trailer.
Looks real good.

Holy hell! I don’t have words for how cool that looks! Finally I can begin to understand what Jaffe meant by his recent statements about GoW III!
@El_MUERkO
Kratos is hanging on the back of Gaia, the Earth Mother Titan. They started climbing Mount Olympus at the end of GoW II.

Epic trailer made out of pure awesomeness.
This is the real deal – the system seller Sony have been looking for.
Kratos > Master Chief? I suppose time will tell.

master chief being hidden in his armour allowed you to ‘be him’, in a sense you were master chief, kratos is some one the player aspires or wishes to be, we’re taken on his journey by him
as characters go kratos is definitely the cooler

Are we comparing a future cyborg FPS character whom you control in first person with a fictional mythological character who’s in a hack’n'slash game and depicted in third person?

In terms of adrenaline rush, i’d say that they were comparable experiences tbh.

Right, I see what you’re getting at.
I think they’re both great in their own right, really. I can’t seem to weigh up one against the other.
Both are just brilliant characters, imo.

The G4 interviews… They make it sound like Shadow of the God of War. Not in any deep way, literally with the (again literal) Colossi.
But… It’s a superb team, can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Master Chief as someone said is a shell of armour you inhabit, who is synonymous with awesome. He is iconic.
Kratos is iconic too, but he actually is a character. One that is a rebel god, and he is badass.
God of War is the only game that Sony has produced a badass with, and that is really important if you ask me. Drake might be more badass in Uncharted 2, that might be Naughty Dog’s aim… But I hope not.

I’m stunned that more people on Jonny Interweb seem to be of the view that this game will shift PS3 hardware than will KZ2 or has LBP. I just don’t get it. Isn’t it just a pretty hack-n-slash arcade game? Is that better than a visceral shooter or a revolutionary platformer/physics game?

It’s not a new IP and the pervious games were good.

I wouldn’t pay much attention to Jonny Interweb. Most of us don’t have a clue what we’re talking about.

Just strikes me as one of those games where you can do well simply by hitting X as fast and as much as possible. I played the Chains of Olympus demo on PSP and came away thinking similarly.
Okay, not literally just one button, but you know what I mean.

That’s super-aweswome! Do we know if it’s actually real-time? I have an inbuilt sense of suspicion where Sony reveals are concerned these days.
