Harmonix: No Rock Band 3 this year

According to a report by Crispygamer, Harmonix co-founder and CEO Alex Rigopulous has said that 2009 will not see a new instalment of the Rock Band franchise this year.

The development house is instead choosing to concentrate all its efforts on the new Beatles game the company announced back in October last year.

“We’ve actually made a choice to break out of the annual release cycle for Rock Band this year,” said Rigopulous. “[This is] partly because the annual cycle places limits on the choices you can make as a developer.

“We’re trying to take a long term view.”

Glad they aren’t pulling a Tony Hawk/Madden on this game. They have made enough money with this title, so they don’t have to keep pumping out annual versions of the same game. I’m glad Harmonix considered to take its time to create a more quality product.
