And it’s goodnight from us…

christmas2.jpg

As you’ve probably gathered, we’re pretty much wrapped up for the year. We’ll be keeping an eye on things over the break and we’ll update if anything cataclysmic happens. You may get some news every day. You may not. We feel as though we need a break.

From everyone that has any input into VG247, we want to say a massive thank you for all the support you’ve given us in 2008 and sincerely hope you have a fantastic holiday. We’re going to have plenty to talk about in 2009, so don’t change your bookmark. Next year’s going to be all about newsifying your asses, and no one will do it better than us if we can honestly help it.

And that’s that. Merry Christmas!

Giga, I rented Halo 3 over the weekend, and played through it as well. Nice little game, but having played none of the previous parts, the story was some kind of clusterfuck. (Obviously, that’s no complaint, don’t take offense, fanbois. ;) )

Normal service will resume on Monday. I’m taking advantage of the break as it’ll probably be the only time off I get until next Christmas. We’ll do a round-up of everything that’s happened since Christmas when we start up again.

Yeah, it’s an ok game. I was going for the acheivement points though, so I had to do some of the levels more than once because I turned it off without saving, lol.

I didn’t think much of the story either.

Heres a doom and gloom Sony story.

If you want daily Sony doom and gloom stories you need look no further than n4g.com.

Probably one of the most unprofessional gaming sites on the web, but hey, nothing more can be expected from anonymous contributors. ;)

Thought I’d share something I’ve been looking at.

For the two weeks before Xmas (and since) I’ve checked Amazon and Play several times a day looking for gaming deals (you know, games and accessories you wouldn’t buy until they reached a certain price). One thing I noticed was that in both top 100 charts, the 360 console was regularly in the top 20 or 30 whereas the PS3 console was often not even top 100. But then, on 26 December something changed. On Play, the 360 dropped out of the top 100 whereas three PS3 bundles entered the chart – the LBP in the top 20. The 360 has since returned but lower than before. On Amazon, the 360 dropped heavily and the PS3 appeared high on the list. Since that day, the PS3 has been riding higher than the 360 on both charts. Even better on Play, three PS3 bundles chart higher than the 360.

Some may say that is because many more 360s were bought before Xmas thus affecting sales straight after the holiday. Which is of course true. But what it also suggests to me is this: people buying presents for others bought 360s. People buying for themselves (e.g. spending gift money, deciding to buy in the traditional post-Xmas sales) bought PS3s. Anecdotal of course, but I look forward to the next round of numbers….

Also, between 26 and 28 December, LBP was the #1 seller on Amazon Games. It has been top 10 since. On 26 and 27 December, four of the top 10 in Amazon Games were PS3 titles (three of them were discounted the same amount as the 360 versions so it wasn’t down to that).

BTW, exactly the same thing happened at Amazon US (apart from LBP jumping so high).

Finally, since 26 December the official PS3 forum has been full of people who have said the same thing: “Just bought myself the PS3 LBP bundle”.

Don’t forget about games, Pud!

Merry, Year, New, Christmas, Happy. You may rearrange those words as you like.

Good luck with the kid, Pat, we all love you. I like children too – would you like to swap recipes?
