Gears of War 2 was the biggest selling game in the US last month, with more than 1.5 million units sold.
Call of Duty: World at War came a close second with 1.4 million sales, the two games far beyond Wii Play with 800,000 in third place and Wii Fit with 700,000 at fourth.
The top ten:

- Wii Play (Nintendo, Wii) - 796,000
- Wii Fit (Nintendo, Wii) - 697,000
- Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo, Wii) - 637,000
- Call of Duty: World at War (Treyarch, PS3) - 597,000
- Guitar Hero World Tour (Vicarious Visions, Wii) - 475,000
- Left 4 Dead (Valve, Xbox 360) - 410,000
- Resistance 2 (Insomniac, PS3) - 385,000
- Wii Music (Nintendo, Wii) - 297,000

That’s a hell of a difference in units sold between the two versions of CoD. I thought the games were just as popular on PS3? They certainly seem to play a lot of CoD4.

It was. But I think what G1GA is probably getting at is that it didn’t do that well in last month’s NPDs but the fans said it got released too late in the month and would ‘have legs’.

I don’t think anyone is surprised that Banjo “didn’t do so well” - it’s hitting the bargain bins on both sides of the pond already. Although the people who did actually buy it seem pretty happy with it.

It was released at a budget price in the US in the first place. One of the reasons I didn’t buy it myself was because of the inconsistent pricing strategy.

PS3 titles in general did poorly - but for Resistance 2 to do about 2/3 of CoD5 is not so bad.

I’m still fairly surprised that CoD5 didn’t do better on PS3. I’m sure I read that over here there wasn’t much in it between PS3 and 360 versions.

Wouldn’t that be purely related to installed base though? About 14m 360’s = 1.4m sales. About 7m PS3’s 0.6m sales. Anyone with both machines is likely to buy on 360 - I know I do.
