Play.com pushes price with PS3 packs
Play.com’s doing its best to keep PS3′s price down, despite Sony’s refusal to offer an official cut, launching two new Christmas bundles for the machine today.
The first pack comes with an 80Gb machine, Quantum Of Solace, Batman Begins Blu-ray, the Blu-ray remote and LittleBigPlanet for £300.
The second swaps out Quantum of Solace for GTA IV, and Batman Begins for 300, for the same price.
Maybe now’s the time? Thanks, PS3F.

There’s another pack with Force Unleashed and I Am Legend too.
Not half bad if you’re after a PS3, these. Certainly a lot more appealing than Sony’s own packages.

That second one’s pretty good. GTA IV, LBP, a BRD movie and the remote for £300 is cheap beans.

Well, I wouldn’t go as far as calling it ‘cheap’. But it’s certainly much better value than before.

I don’t know why no-one is throwing in a second controller, especially for a pack with LBP.

It’s nice when compared to the official, let alone initial prices.
But then, there’s the 360 for €179 officially, and sometimes, you even get one or two games bundled.
In relative terms, the PS3 might well now be good value for the price. Speaking absolutely, I cannot see myself spend that much more for a mostly equivalent system with regard to gaming.

@Blerk, not cheap? Christ dude, even allowing for normal discounts from RRP for those extras, you’re getting the 80GB PS3 for about 185 squids! Or to put it another way, you’re getting an 80GB PS3 for about £6 more than a Wii.
You want it given away or something?

I’m bored so here’s some quick maths…
GTA IV: £23
LBP: £28
Batman Begins: £13
Remote: £15
Total: £79
So assuming you were going to pick up all that stuff anyway you’d be looking at the equivalent of getting a PS3 for £220. Not too shabby.
