New Xbox Experience set for 10.00 GMT: World braces for impact

nxe14.jpg

We’re still waiting for direct confirmation from Microsoft, but it seems official: New Xbox Experience will launch at 10.00am GMT this morning.

The plan is to deliver the new 360 user interface to 14 million people in an orderly fashion. We’re still disbelieving that the internet won’t melt.

We’ll bring you confirmation as soon as the update goes live. There’s a video explaining how to install NXE here.

Be funny if this goes completely according to plan.

But a bit boring for us hacks Pat? :)

So if it goes smoothly does that mean it went according to plan or does it mean that Aaron G’s “Biggest moment in the history of the internet” is, in fact, an overblown piece of PR hyperbole?

And therefore, if it springs a leak and goes a bit wrong does that mean that, “oh well, biggest event in history of the internet: proved!” claims will be founded?

I think the first Star Wars Episode 1 Phantom Menace trailer release was the last thing to properly break the internet. Perhaps the first GTAIV launch trailer too.

Eurogamer’s cackhanded distribution of LBP beta codes doesn’t count. That was broken for different reasons.

Major’s Twitter: “It has begun”

Does anybody get the feeling that when he said that, it sounded like he knew what was gonna happen XD

So how’s it feel to be part of the greatest evolution since the Tv? =P

It’s going to be a rolling update, so it won’t get to everyone instantly. You’ll just have to wait if you still haven’t gotten a prompt.

Mine has just updated and is running beautifully. <3

Time to go make my avatar!

btw… you can tell the 360 to check for an update simply by loading a game.

Making games run off the HD which may have an impact on loading times, pop-in etc but should ensure a quieter console.

There is also a join a party feature update that some online players have been looking forward to.

Bah. Still no UPS delivery van, still no new 360. I’ll just have to sit and grump from the sidelines on this one.

A bit like Shatner.

Yeah, someone just told me they were getting a general “can’t retrieve from Live” error.

You can’t buy a couple of things from Live saying they aren’t available despite they obviously are.
