Infinity Ward’s Bowling explodes at CoD5 producer’s claims: “You’re completely fucking wrong”

Oh dear. Infinity Ward mouthpiece Rob Bowling has directed a furious – and unmissable – blog post at Activision producer Noah Heller for comparing Call of Duty: World at War to previous Infinity Ward games.

“Can you guys please stop interviewing this guy, talk to someone who actually works on the Dev Team at Treyarch and knows what the fuck they’re talking about. Not Senior Super Douche Noah Heller from Activision – who apparently has never played the game and doesn’t even work at the developer.”

Heller said most recently in a CVG interview that: “In the previous Call of Dutys it might take three or four shots from a bolt action rifle. We made sure that a single shot centre mass would kill that opponent because that’s the expectation of the player.”

Bowling responded: “WTF are you talking about?! ‘In previous Call of Dutys blah blah blah’. First of all, you didn’t work on ‘previous Call of Dutys’, so don’t talk as if you’re down with how / why things were designed the way they were. Second, you’re completely fucking wrong.”

    Or.

Another developer humiliates theirself on the Internet with an outburst of nerd-rage, and lessens the opinion of at least some of said games developer by not being the better person in a situation like this.

I don’t agree with Activision’s naughtyness, but there are better ways to handle things than scream how “completely fucking wrong” some things are on a blog. Back in my day, we had a word for people who screamed about the unfairness of the World on blogs.

Really wish devs would stop defacing themselves.

Note: I completely agree with the guy, vehemently in fact. I just think that he really could’ve gotten his point over and looked better than Actard at the end of the day. But outbursts like that will likely make Act look good, once their PR gets on it.

    Jesus.

None of us worked on previous Call Of Duties either…are we all now banned from talking about them?

Heller is just the guy Activision take to all the press events. It’s not his fault he’s been given the job.

He answers the journalist questions, which are almost always referencing COD4. I read “So how is Treyarch going to top COD4″ in almost every interview I’ve read with the guy.

So don’t have a go at him for it.

And why are IW having a go at Heller anyway? They are, after all, only really having at go at Activision. And why are they stirring up trouble with just a week till the game goes?

Because it gets people talking about it and getting it in their heads a week before the release of the title.

I bet Activision’s PR is loving this.
