DSi specs confirmed, 12 percent thinner than Lite

dsi.jpg

Nintendo just confirmed that the newly announced the DSi will be 12 percent thinner than the DS Lite, and will get rid of the GBA slot completely.

The DSi will also include, as leaked by the Nikkei, two built-in cameras according to blog reports, and music playback.

The screens are larger than DS Lite’s at 3.25 inches.

The machine features an SD memory card slot. Apparently you’re able to take pictures on the handheld and view them on Wii.

DSi also features web browsing.

But hey, won’t those games look horribly pixelated when stretched over those screens.

It looks cool and all, but hmm.. how about DSi games?

What are you mumbling about Gekidami? Does this somehow get into your home and snap your DS into pieces?

“What would you ever need TWO cameras for?”

Depth perception? Other than that I have no idea.

No GBA slot is telling.

Expect Nintendo to push GBA games on their DS Download Store from day one. Expect them to start with remakes of older franchises that got remade on the GBA. Possibly remakes or remade remakes that were remade before!

Now you can buy games you already own. Again!

Lucky that GBA games are pretty much all a load of old bollocks then, isn’t it? :-D

You take that back!

Drill Dozer and Ninja 5-0 are brilliant.

There are still some gems Blerk. The Metroids and the Metroidvanias, the Final Fantasy remakes, FF Tic-Tacs :P , Warioware, F-Zero (Why isn’t there an F-Zero DS?). Just a shame the later titles were all shovel-ware.

Plus there’s the opportunity to sell you all those SNES titles again and with the bigger screen (if they have more pixels) they’ll actually fit. Zelda LttP, GBA or SNES version, oh the decisions!

Any idea if it’ll play homebrew?

I think the chances of that are remarkably slim.

I know, but I can always hope. If it plays homebrew I will definitely get it. If not, it’s much hazier.

Everytime I hear DSi, I instantly think CSI. So now I have in my head DSi: New York where everyone solves cases using their DS.

This sucks the big fat one! NO GBA SLot means that the DSi renders Guitar Hero WT useless! They better get us WPA2 at LEAST!
