Q1 PS3 sales hit 1.56 million, double last year

Sony’s announced first quarter results this morning, confirming that 1.56 million PS3s were sold in the three months ending June 30.

The figure for PS3 sales last year was around 700,000.

PSP sales stood at 3.72 million for the quarter, with PS2 sales at 1.51 million for the same period.

Almost 23 million units of PS3 software were sold in the quarter.

All detail here, though cash figures are lacking. We’ll post them soon.

Sony financials: 10 million PS3 sales expected next year

Pachter: 13 million GTA IV sales this year “unlikely”

Pachter: 16.3 million PS3s and 21.3 million 360s in US and Europe by year-end

Yeah, worldwide. Nintendo should be pretty soon, MS was a while ago.

Were they? I remember them claiming their first yearly profit a little while back, but I don’t remember seeing any unit sales figures. Remind me, Statto.

If you look at the latest quarter, there’s really not that much in it, is there? Especially when you consider that that includes the MGS4 hardware bump.
