Tonight’s E3 Sony press conference – where can I watch it?
This is it. P-Day. We’re about to find out what’s in store for PlayStation 3 and PSP for the rest of the year and beyond. Sony is going to need something seriously spectacular to top last night’s FFXIII 360 announcement. The Ueda game? Tears of Blood? A price cut? A slim machine? Whatever happens, you can bet your bottom dollar this isn’t going to be dull. The pressure is so, so on. Don’t blink: you may miss it.
When does it start?
Sony’s E3 press conference starts today at 11.30am PST. That’s 7.30pm BST. Nintendo’s conference leads the morning at 9.00am PST. All E3 conference timings are listed here.
Where can I watch it live?
IGN worked wall for us last night, and we had problems with Gamespot. We didn’t try G4. Make up your own mind.
Will you be updating throughout?
Yep. We’ll be reeling from Nintendo, but we’re made of steel. We’ll have all the news. All of it.

My secondary reason for buying a PS3 went out the window yesterday, but with Ueda and co being an internal Sony team there’s still no chance I’ll be able to avoid buying one eventually.
If their new game is shown tonight I’ll be very surprised, but I’ll keep some spare underwear to hand just in case.
Great. A PS3 and a new PC for Diablo 3 next year, my wife will love me

The Ueda game? This evening? That implies Sony has more intelligence that you could reasonably credit them with.
I’m not expecting them to show more than the 5 or 6 shooters they’ve been banging on about up to now, even with the FFXIII shocker.

I DID try G4, for the EA conference, and it was just awful, sadly. (the quality of stream) So bad was it, I’ve had to catch up with videos of that conferences demos, today, despite watching it live.
I haven’t the slightest complaint with the IGN stream I watched for Microsoft’s briefing, though.
Tears of Blood would make a great reveal, for Sony, tonight!

It’d be great to see what Ueda’s been up to. I don’t think we will, though. Feels more like a TGS announcement.

Here’s a question: Do you think that Valve are sticking their heels in, over Left 4 Dead; or are Sony just choosing not to aggressively pursue that, for their platform?

SplatteredHouse: It’ll be EA as Valve don’t have the staff to handle a PS3 port. Perhaps they don’t think it’s worth the investment?

The AI director could make for hard work to move onto Sony’s architecture, would be my best guess. I imagine something like that could be fairly hardware dependent.

Left 4 Dead looks rubbish anyway.

Yeah, if we see Ueda-san’s latest, it’ll be the briefest teaser and nothing more. TGS is a better bet for that one.
Sony to unveil its own motion controller? I wouldn’t bet against it.

I predict next ICO game will be shown and it will look awesome! I’d also say FF7 coming to the PSN Store in prep. for FF7-2.

Kaz has been banging on about repositioning the PS3 as being all about the games, well now the time has come to prove it.
With Sony’s stake in Squeenix, they should have known about the FF announcement for some time, and if they have any sense they’ll have ensured they’ve got their own games and announcements to turn the tide.
Third party exclusives don’t make financial sense with the current gen stacked the way it is, and with Sony coming off the back of dominating a gen with PS2, they’ll certainly be suffering the most from that.
It’s not all one way though, Bioshock is coming to PS3, and Sony do have a good deal more internal studios than MS, so we should see the fruits of that this E3.

Yeah, Sony must have been well aware of the fact, and if they know whats good for them, they will have prepared well for tonight. Give me tons of PSN goodies!!

I see the mainstream press are all over the MS “Megaton” … http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7506927.stm

You can’t blame them after the Wii’s success but if you look at the 360′s record of mainstream games, I think its safe to say this wont make much of a difference.

Well my point was more than a little draped in sarcasm – the big OMG!WTF! announcement of the presentation yesterday is a footnote for the mainstream.

I’m not expecting anything major from Sony at this event. Certainly nothing new or that we didn’t hear before. Probably biggest even might be “Oooh. OK, Afrika will come to Europe after all”. Overall I think they’re going to duck out of this one.
Either way, they’re going to get both barrels (as usual) from the internet:
Say little and they’ve “got nothing left, they’re doomed”
Say lots and “they’re all talk”.
You mark my words.

Well this is Sonys chance…
Ninty – left me a bit meh.
MS – biggest thing was getting a PS3 game
Sony – ?? TBH my head thinks its gonna be rubbish and just full of KZ2 and Home

Hi lads.
Fully expecting no Team Ico and no FF7 remake like everyone has suddenly conjured up. GOW3 in some form, and that’ll be the extent of new titles. Also looking for absolutezero to be a ball of fail if he should post.

Not sure how this is Sony’s last chance Newbie101. I don’t think gamers giving multinational corporations idealistic ultimatums actually mean that much in the real world.
It ocurred to me that I wouldn’t say no to a PS3 port of Shadow of the Coloussus. HD, consistent framerate. PSN download. Hell, they could even release it as episodic content one colossus per fortnight. It’d be quite mercenary for them to do it but I reckon they’d *just* about get away with it.
Pat, I know you’ve often said “I really must get around to playing [game]” – please tell me you’ve played Shadow of the Colossus.
