Lazard Capital’s Colin Sebastian put out a note this morning saying he believes the now-confirmed Saints Row 2 slip into the back half of 2008 was made to further work on the game’s co-op aspects.
“We believe the primary motivation for the shift is to enhance and improve the title’s cooperative (co-op) game-play, which is one of the unique features of this game,” he said.
“While improving game quality is important, we also believe that the shift puts more pressure on the title approaching a more crowded holiday market. We also note that online episodic content for GTA IV is due out in 2H08, which could distract from the Saints Row 2 release if they fall within the same time period.”
THQ confirmed last night that the game had been moved back from August to October.

If the episodic GTA content makes it out on time I’ll eat my hat.
Furthermore, who the hell is this guy? What does he have to do with Saints Row? Why should we believe what *he* thinks is the reason for it getting pushed back?
I believe it slipped because they’re working on teh shinies. It’s not quite shiny enough, and they want to add some extra shinies before release.

He’s an analyst for a US firm. I guess he must have his reasons for thinking that. He’s bound to be in close contact with people at THQ. He has to be, really.

We’re separated by a few countries and a sea. I couldn’t even if I wanted to. Even I can’t reach that far.
