UMVC3 boss: 'Console fighters should have handheld versions'

All fighting games should have a portable release to sit alongside big console brothers, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 producer Ryota Niitsuma has told VG247.

Niitsuma-san's comments come ahead of PlayStation Vita's western launch in a few weeks, where Capcom will release Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 following its Japanese debut in December.

"Personally, I believe that fighting games should have a version on home consoles and then a version on handhelds which make it fun for people on the go, utilising its features," said Niitsuma.

"I think that the players also feel the same way. If we start seeing fighting games sold only on portable systems, then that would be a whole different story."

Capcom is also bringing Street Fighter x Tekken to Vita, as announced at E3 last year, and Arc Sytem Works Europe will release BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend on the handheld.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 launches on February 22 alongside Vita.
