The Neverhood targeting mobile release

Classic claymation point-and-click adventure The Neverhood may be resurrected as a mobile release.

A group of the original developers of the 1996 PC game is attempting to secure the rights to publish the game for mobile platforms, including iDevice, Android, and Windows Phone 7.

Developed by a group of ex-Shiny staffers led by Earthworm Jim creator Doug TenNapel, The Neverhood featured gorgeous claymation graphics and a truly awesome Terry Scott Taylor soundtrack.

The Dreamworks-published game has achieved cult status for its quirky humour and surprisingly detailed canon - remember that room with the story on the walls? The one that went for approximately 6,000 screens? - but failed to perform at retail. A platformer sequel, Skullmonkeys, appeared in 1998. Both games were released in Japan under the name Klaymen.
