Monster Hunter World Ancient Forest - Map Overview, All Plants and Creatures in the Ancient Forest
In Monster Hunter World, the very first area you’ll find yourself in is the Ancient Forest, home to a variety of monsters that’ll prey on everything around them, including you. Monster Hunter World Ancient Forest Map
When you first step into the Ancient Forest in MHW, you’ll find yourself in the Southwest Camp, located in area 1 of the Ancient Forest. Head into the open area just northeast of here, and you’ll find yourself an a peaceful area filled with Aptonoth, a Piscine Researcher, and plenty of plants including the likes of Herbs, Vitality, Latchberry, Flowfern, Redberry, and Needleberry.
Not too far away from here however, in area 2 of the Ancient Forest map, is a Jagras nest. This is where you’ll most frequently find the Ancient Jagras residing, and quite often you’ll find the monster preying on the Aptonoth that could be found back in section one of the Ancient Forest map. You’re always guaranteed to find several lesser Jagras and a Bone Pile in the Jagras nest location in section 2 of the map.
Monster Hunter World Ancient Forest Monster Locations
If you want to find some of the more powerful monsters in MHW's Ancient Forest, including the likes of the Pukei-Pukei and the Anjanath, you’ll want to head from area 1 through to area 5, passing through areas 3, 4, and a corner of area 11 on the way. Once you’re in area 5 of the Ancient Forest, you’ll now find yourself in a series of paths leading through high walls on either side, and it’s in these paths that you can often find Pukei-Pukei and Rathalos roaming around.
The second Jagras nest in the Ancient Forest is located in area 8, in the very top left corner of the map. You can also use area 8 of the map to reach the higher area of the Ancient Forest, these being sections 13 and 14. Look for a massive vine wall anywhere in area 8, and climb it to reach some of the higher areas in the map, where you can eventually find the nest of the sole Rathalos in the area, located in section 14.
In these upper reaches of the Ancient Forest you can also sometimes find the Anjanath roaming around, waiting for the Rathalos to return so the two can engage in battle, as well as several items like Sleep Herbs, Wiggly Litchi, Bomberry, Gobdbug, Smokenut, Herbs, and Flamenut. Area 14 is also where you can frequently find A-Lister Palicoes, waiting for you to approach them so they can help you out while you venture around the Ancient Forest.
