Detroit: Become Human tells a sci-fi tale set in Detroit in 2038. The city has become a hub for the production and invention of androids, which are used as a workforce for all kinds of jobs. Throughout the game, players take control of three main characters; Kara, Connor and Markus. As the Detroit: Become Human Main Characters, each has their own UI, abilities and story, with the narrative switching back and forth between them. In this Detroit: Become Human Main Characters Guide, we’ll break down each one and tell you everything we know about Kara, Connor and Markus.

Detroit: Become Human Characters

Detroit: Become Human's campaign is split between three main characters. Each mission revolves around either Kara, Markus or Connor, with each having their own distinct story arc. The game will jump between characters as missions are completed, meaning that the player cannot switch between characters at will. The actions of one character can have an effect on the other two, as the narratives influence each other as the story progresses.

Kara

Kara is an android who serves as a domestic servant to a taxi-driver named Todd Williams. She suffers abuse at the hands of Williams, who hates androids. She is frequently exposed to situations where Williams is abusing his daughter Alice, and often intervenes. Each time though, she is powered down and sent back to the factory to have her memory wiped, only to be returned to the household to begin anew.

She’s part of the AX400 line of androids designed to look after children and perform household tasks. She can speak over 300 languages and is particularly empathetic towards children.

Kara is modelled on and voiced by Valorie Curry, and plays a vital role in the game.

Markus

Markus is the second playable character in Detroit: Become Human. He’s a RK200 model android, a prototype given to painter Carl Manfred to assist him after an accident leaves him paralyzed. After escaping his master, he joins up with a group of deviant androids. He is hell-bent on sparking an android revolution, lamenting the way they are treated by society.

Markus conducts regular missions to liberate androids from being sold on the market. He targets the manufacturing plants and frees as many of his brethren as possible, slowly building his cause. He’s a revolutionary leader, inspiring an uprising of android workers in an attempt to fight for equal rights.

Actor Jesse Williams plays Markus, lending his voice and likeness to the character. Markus is one of three playable characters in Detroit: Become Human, with players taking control and deciding exactly what kind of leader they want him to be.

Connor

Connor is the final playable main character in Detroit: Become Human, and is featured in the game’s demo. He’s an android specifically designed to hunt down deviant androids. As such, he is part of a specialized task force, and is sent to investigate a hostage situation early on in the game.Connor is the final playable main character in Detroit: Become Human, and is featured in the game’s demo. Connor is part of the RK800 product line, equipped with unique scanning abilities. He can scan an environment to create a reconstruction of past events. This allows him to piece together information from a crime scene, which is his primary role as an assistant to Detective Hank Anderson.

He is much more advanced when compared with other androids, with precise situational awareness and a clear diction which aids in hostage negotiation. This is evidenced in his encounter with Daniel, a deviant android who takes a young girl hostage during the early hours of the game. Connor slowly increases his chances of success by combing through the crime scene, before confronting Daniel.

Connor is generally despised by his co-workers, given their negative attitudes towards androids. He is a useful crime-solving tool though, so is tolerated. He is played by Bryan Dechart, who provided extensive motion-capture for the character.
