The Gothic remake is going into full production following positive feedback

The recently-demoed Gothic remake will be moving forward.

THQ Nordic announced today that the Gothic remake prototype the developer made playable for everyone in December, has received positive feedback. As a result, the remake will enter production at a new studio.

The developer said the prototype was played by 180,000 Steam users, earning it over 9,000 reviews. THQ Nordic also sent out a survey that was answered by more than 43,000 players, 94% of whom were in favour of the direction the developer took in re-imagining classic Gothic in a modern wrapper.

THQ Nordic published full results of the survey [PDF] for anyone to view.

The company said development will be carried out by a new studio in Barcelona, Spain that's currently being established. Player feedback so far will shape the direction the studio takes, including demands for "grittier and less colourful world."

The remake will be released beyond 2020 for PC and consoles.
