Hideo Kojima’s has been touring the world in search of a new game engine
Ever since Hideo Kojima left Konami and became a free agent, he’s been visiting many prestigious studios around the world.
The reason why he’s doing this is so that he could check out game engines to see which one he may use to develop his next game.
According to the designer, using third-party engines would eliminate the need to spend time on creating a new one internally.
“I think it’s better to use internal tools to make games,” he told attendees at the Nordic Game event in Malmo, as reported by Gamespot.
“But for my first title we are going to use a third-party engine because we want to release it to the people who are waiting. The reason why I’m travelling around the world is because I am looking for [an engine] to use.”
Kojima has already been to first-party Sony studios like Sucker Punch and Quantic Dream, as well as third-parties like DICE. He’s seen tech like photogrammetry and the latest in motion capture. Whatever the man decides on, though, it’ll be a ways off before we see it.
But, we do have that slick new Koji Productions logo to marvel at in the meantime.
