Check out the Ninjutsu available to Ryu in the upcoming 3DS version of Shinobi. That’s “ninja powers” for those of us less excited by correct usage of Japanese terms.

Siliconera reports players will select the ability of their choice by tapping on-screen icons, and then deploy them with the L button.

Fire spells cause damage across, the whole screen, while Earth grants boosted defence, increased speed and attack power but robs you of HP and shurikens when the Ninjutsu gauge depletes.

Lightning seems a safer bet with a three-hit shield, and Water gives you a jump boost and a greater chance of recovering thrown shuriken.

Shinobi, Sega’s 3DS reinterpretation of the classic arcade property, is due in November.
