World of Tanks invades Europe and US on April 12

17 March 2011 18:10 GMT has announced its World of Tanks MMO will launch in Europe and the US on April 12.

Fitting day for both continents as it is the anniversary of the start of the US Civil War and the opening of Euro Disneyland.

The free-to-play vehicle MMO, which has been in testing for around nine months now, has players driving around the battlefield in WWII-era tanks.

World of Tanks holds the record for most players online simultaneously on one server, which totaled 91,311 players on the Russian server.

“Our team has been working really hard to create a unique blend of action, strategy, simulation and RPG elements in World of Tanks, and now the moment all fans across the globe have been waiting for is right around the corner,” said studio boss Victor Kislyi.

“We are delighted to be finally announcing the release date for this ground-breaking title and invite all veteran players and those new to the game to enjoy tense and uncompromising armoured warfare on World of Tanks battlegrounds.”
