Torment: Tides of Numenera crowdfunding backers have voted for inXile to implement turn-based combat rather than a real-time with pausing system as seen in spiritual precursor Planescape: Torment and many classic CRPGs.

Torment: Tides of Numenera developer inXile Entertainment is unsure if it should keep the RPG’s combat turn-based in real-time, or if it should employ a pause system. It’s invited all of the game’s Kickstarter backers to vote on the matter.

With three hours left on the Kickstarter clock, Torment: Tides of Numenera has hit $4,028,412 thanks to 71,911 backers, and that’s not even counting the over $176,000 earned through PayPal. The latest round of money tossed at the project has made the project the current Kickstarter record holder for most funding, besting Project Eternity. The project with the most funding from all areas was Star Citizen and its $6.2 million. To celebrate the milestone, inXile posted another piece of concept art, showing off a male playable character. The Torment: Tides of Numenera Kickstarter page has been updated with a video, which shows a 3D character on pre-rendered 2D background. It’s basically a technology test using Unity, and is of the screenshots released yesterday. With three days to go, the Kickstarter has hit $3,336,869 thanks to 61,056 backers. If you want Chris Avellone on board, you better start tossing some money at it.

The Torment: Tides of Numenera Kickstarter has reached $2,110,638, after reaching $1 million within seven hours and two minutes. The initial funding goal of $900,000 was met – and then some – Wednesday evening, and now, thanks to 38,203 backers, the project’s funding is racing ahead and an enormous pace.

We reported earlier that the Kickstarter for Torment: Tides of Numenera, the spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment by inXile, was off to a fast start, but it’s managed to actually increase its pace since it went live six hours ago or so. It has already reached its $900,000 goal and its bounty continues to increase.
