Total War: Rome 2 developer The Creative Assembly has published its first behind-the-scenes dev diary for the title, which shows the creation and destruction of Carthage, the focal point of a great conflict between the Romans and the Carthaginian. Total War: Rome 2 developer The Creative Assembly has unveiled and detailed one of the games key factions. The north-African Carthaginian army comes from the trading state Carthage, and with it brings a mighty force to challenge the Roman empire. See them in action and get more details below.

Total War: Rome 2′s first playable faction has been revealed as the Romans and SEGA has said more factions will be revealed in the “coming weeks and months.” The strategy title will feature Greco-Roman, Barbarian, and Eastern cultures, each with its own agents and political system. Faction trees will represent civic, military and engineering disciplines, with each civilization facing internal dilemmas. Certain factions such as Rome, will be split into a number of playable families each with unique benefits which can be applied to their base faction traits. Total war: Rome 2 is expected sometime in 2013 for PC. More on the SEGA blog.

Viking: Battle for Asgard, which was released for consoles in 2008 by The Creative Assembly, will arrive on Steam next week. The Creative Assembly has issued a title update for Total War: Shogun 2 which is full of delights like more translations and improved lighting, but the best bit is probably a handful of tweaks designed to prevent desync issues when playing multiplayer campaigns. No more getting 100 turns in and wanting to put your fist through the monitor – hopefully. Visit Steam for the full patch notes.
