The PvP-focused Conquest patch for Rift will offer some new content for those who prefer to go solo. As detailed on PC Gamer, after patch 1.9 players can contribute to ongoing tri-factional conflicts by gathering and crafting resources which can help tip the balance in favour of one side or another, without having to participate in multiplayer battles.

Trion has announced three faction PvP and open world conquest for RIFT. The area of Stillmoor is being revamped with “cross-shard, open-world PvP control points and sourcestone powered fortifications,” according to TenTonHammer, and in order for your faction to win, players will need to claim 40% of the control points or rack up 5,000 kills. Players will also need to align themselves with one of three factions and their totems: Dominion – The Ram, Oathsworn – The Lion, or Nightfall – The Raven. A PvP test for the new content will occur on RIFT’s pulic test server on Thursday, May 17 starting at 4.00pm PDT. Head on through the links to learn more.

Trion Worlds has released its Streaming Client for RIFT which will allow players to launch the game from the patcher without having to wait for the full data download to complete. This will allow players to jump into the fray within minutes, even if the patch is large. The game’s patcher will continue download the necessary updates in the background while you play. The new client works “best on a 5MBps or better connection,” and so those who have a slower connection should let the patch complete before attempting to launch the client. An in-game download indicator will show the current status of your download, and will disappear when the client is fully updated. Get more information through the RIFT forums.
