SCEA‘s announced that the PlayStation Network will be down today from 9am PST to 11am PST, that’s 5pm BST to 7pm BST tonight.
At that time, you wont be able to play games online, wont be able to sign into the PSN and you’ll see a maintenance page for whenever you try to access the PSN at all.
This must be linked to the SCEE conference in Cologne tonight: most likely for new PSN features and/or the EU PSN video store that’s been long overdue. We smell a rat, a big one at that.
We’ll most likely find out tonight why it was down.

Microsoft’s confirmed that Xbox Live is now back up following a day-log period of maintenance.
Looks pretty much the same as it did yesterday, but it’s probably more awesomer behind the scenes.
Go teabag a Spartan, or something.

You can rest easy, your PS3 is not broken, your NAT settings are fine, and you need not restart your router. If you’re having logging in to PSN, it’s because it’s down for maintenance.
No idea what kind of refurb work we’re dealing with, or how long it will last, but it’s down, not up, and you’ll just have to wait until it is.
When it’s up again, we’ll let you know.

SCEA just let everyone know that “parts of” PSN are down for some work this morning, so don’t be too shocked if you can’t sign into Home. We kill ourselves.
There’s no detail on what’s happening and why through there, but we’re assured we’ll be told when everything’s up and running again.

Media Molecule’s confirmed that the LittlBigPlanet servers are going to be offline tonight as the firm continues to fix the game’s gremlins.
From the post:
Please note the LittleBigPlanet online servers will be down for essential maintenance on Thursday November 6th between 12am and 9am PST. During this period the offline game will be unaffected as we work to improve online performance. So keep playing or creating and we’ll have some shiny new servers ready for when we get back.
Hopefully this won’t be a regular thing. Obviously.
