Lightning Returns in the fall, gets an extended trailer
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 will be released in the fall, according to various previews published today on the game. Luckily, Gematsu rounded the lot up for you to look over here. The site also posted the extended trailer for it, and we’ve put it below the break. You can keep up with everything Lightning through here, as well.

Toriyama – large-scale internal development not in Square’s future after FFXIII
Motomu Toriyama, director of FFXIII and FXIII-2, said during at GDC Taipei that Square Enix plans to avoid large-scale development in the future after its experience with FFXIII-2.

Final Fantasy XIII’s fiction “too big” for just one game
Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase has said the decision to develop a sequel was partly motivated by the depth of the game’s ficitonal universe.

FFXIII gets budget re-release in Japan this July
Square Enix has announced its to re-release Final Fantasy XIII as a budget release in Japan for both PS3 and 360. The PS3 version will come under Square’s Ultimate hits line, while the 360 SKU will be part of Microsoft’s Platinum Hits collection, as the game is already in the Square line-up from its original release in the country last December.
Both PS3 and 360 will launch for ¥3,990 on July 21. Thanks, Andriasang.

FFXIII focus feedback came “too late,” devs admit

Nintendo releases US and EU top 30 sales charts for 2010 to date
Nintendo’s claimed leading software sales positions in both the US and Europe so far this year with New Super Mario Bros Wii and Wii Fit respectively, with FFXIII and God of War III mounted the most serious challenges from other platforms.

UK charts: PS3 beats 360 in battle of FFXIII
Final Fantasy XIII has gone straight into into the UK charts at number one, with the PS3 version beating the Xbox 360 SKU with sales of 54 percent to 360′s 46 percent.
