Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered standalone leaks again, releasing this month or even this week - rumour

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered standalone must be real. We can't all be having mass hallucinations.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered hasn't been announced for standalone release, but at this stage we're all pretty damn convinced its happening despite no announcements at E3 2017.

The latest info drop on the subject comes from the reliable Charlie Intel, citing an anonymous tipster. While the information can't be verified, the site has been supplied with images of a convincing looking retail box, price tags on shelves, and an offscreen image of what seems to be retail stock management software.

The last one is the most interesting as it shows a June 20 release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. A release this week - tomorrow, in fact! - would certainly explain why some stores have set up price tags already. However, other leaks have cited a more credible June 27 release.

We're not putting it past Activision to announce and release a product day-and-date, though, or to give some retailers a week of exclusivity - and Tuesday is the most common day of the week for new games to hit the wild.

If all this is nonsense it's a fair amount of effort to go to for a fake, and we can't believe Activision won't make Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered available in standalone form.

The revamped shooter is currently only available as part of special editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and has been souped up with expensive DLC and microtransactions, so it's a much more promising cash cow than the poorly-received Infinite Warfare.

A standalone release for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered leaked through Gamefly back in May, and then again through Amazon Japan a few weeks later.

Assuming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered standalone is a real thing and not a very elaborate troll on something that definitely should exist, we expect it on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, though the PC release will likely be digital only.
